The sound of leaves crunching echoed in Jungkook's ears as he jogged through the forest. He could distinctly hear each and every leaf get crushed underneath his sneakers alongside the pounding of his heart, an indication by his body for him to stop but he couldn't desist the bolts of adrenaline bearing down on his conduct. With every sharp intake of breath, came the awakening of memories embellished with great happiness and pellucidness.
Memories are tokens that are unhindered by the ephemeral nature of time, an eternal gift to keep our laughter and wellbeing existing even when it's origin has united with infinity. They are the nexus between what is gone and what is still there, an everlasting timbre that sings of alchemy. Irrespective of all the magnificent words it stood for, Jungkook never indulged in reminiscing his golden days for it only anchored laminas of bitterness in him.
As he kept on running into the depths of the woodland, he felt like he was back in his childhood days, reliving those moments of unbridled vibrance. He was devoid of all the thoughts that kept him in chains and gave him those sudden twinges of conscience. And albeit the credence he had in himself for resenting the very act of casting his mind back to his bygone days, the zenith of inner peace that he felt was utterly hypnotic and after so long he lets it change the course of his mind, even for as long as it takes for a leaf to cascade to the ground.
For someone who had been used to such drastic changes arising in his life, he couldn't comprehend the changes ensuing in his heart and the lightheartedness it brought. Whenever the tempests of time were mighty enough to poke through his ramparts made out of bricks of ice, he found solace in the moon. And as innate as it might have been for werewolves to be connected to the moon, he has always had a special connection with the moon. The feeling of having an exquisite affinity dwelled deep in him ever since he was a child.
Their department head had requested Taehyung, the brunette whom he saw earlier, to get him up-to-date with their previous assignments and lessons that he had missed out on and so they were made to sit together. And in the span of two days that they sat together, he somehow managed to capture Jungkook's eye.
Taehyung was a very different person to say the least. Jungkook could pick up the hesitance in his stance and cadence when he spoke to him yet Taehyung still ended up blabbering a bit more than required many a times and strangely enough it had Jungkook shaking his head with a tiny smile on his face. But above all the second thoughts Jungkook was having, the one that was the most anomalous and had his thoughts stuck in a loop was the obscure attachment his wolf felt towards him.
The brunette had his mind so consumed in thoughts of him that he didn't know when his jog turned to a run and his werewolf powers kicked in as he picked up speed. He was now out of the forest and was running alongside to a lake which was imbued with hues of the setting sun, the soil beside it flecked with grass and bushes before the ground became cemented, a fence was hoisted at the junction of the two surfaces and ran as long as the stretch of the water.
