sabrina (1st person)

pulling into the parking lot, i realized that i haven't talked to my sister in over a year. she was the only family member that i could stand and would protect me from my grandmother.

i made a mental note to text her after my shift and went into the shop. i worked 10-3 today, so i had a lot of time to stay afterwards.

i went to the back, clocking in and throwing my apron on. i went to the front counter, taking the next person in line. i noticed taylor in the line, and sighed.

"caramel hot chocolate with extra whipped cream and a two cream two sugar coffee." the customer said. she was one of the regulars, jen.

"i see ren won his baseball game?" i chuckled. she was one of my favourites, she always came in with her son, ren, and if she got a caramel hot chocolate with extra whipped cream, something special happened.

"yes!" she ruffled her sons hair. ren beamed up at me, "i got the winning point!"

"that's great bud!" i smiled. "i'll make your drinks and bring it to your table." i explained. they nodded and went to find a place to sit, and i wrote down their order. i passed it to jax, and he started making it, and i heard him mumble "oh ren won his game!"

i chuckled, moving on to the next person in line.

the day went by slowly, though, it was better than usual. majority of the regulars showed up, and a few people i recognised showed up.

just before my shift ended, a person i've never seen before walked in. her hair was in two small pigtails, her hair brown with orange in the front. she wore an argyle print sweater over a white long sleeve shirt, black sweatpants matching the sweater, and they wore hightop converse like mine.

i almost choked on my own breath, my eyes following their every step. jax elbowed me to snap me out of my trance, and greeted her.

"hello! what can i get you?"

"oh! uhm.." she looked at the display case. "what is a chocolate chip blondie?"

a wide smile grew on my face. "its a blondie, but instead of white chocolate, i used milk chocolate chips!" i paused. "i sorta made them on a whim oneday and my boss desided to start selling them."

i scratched the back of my neck as the girl focused on the desert.

up close, her mocha brown eyes seemed to shimmer, their nose having a perfectly placed stud, and a ring in the center of her bottom lip. light freckles were dabbed across her face, and a small birthmark across one cheek.

the girl looked back up, "i'll have one of those, and, do you have hot chocolate?"

i nodded, writing it down in my notepad and tearing it off, passing it to my friend.

the person smiled, it was perfect and semetrical, two perfectly placed dimples either side. god she's so cute.

they procided to pay, and before she went to find a seat i blurted out, "what're your pronouns?"

"oh! she/her, but i also don't mind they/them." she said exitedly. i grinned. "i use she/her."

we smiled at eachother before she went to go find a table. i turned to jax, checking the clock on the wall. my shift ended just then.

"bro, she's so pretty." i groaned, taking off my apron. he chuckled, "you've got it bad."

"i know! this is bad!" i whisper-yelled. "but still, her eyes, her hair, just, her, is so pretty."

"please stop, this is hurting me to listen."

i rolled my eyes. "see you later, i'm gonna try my best to write." i walk to the back, clocking out and grabbing my computer.

i sat down at a table beside a window, and i gave a thumbs up as my usual food was placed beside me.

i put my headphones in, listening to my calm playlist, and i opened google docs on my computer.
