-Siyambonga Ntabeni-

About an hour later we lay on my bed looking at the ceiling. I could hear my mother's words at the back of my mind "ungamfuzi nangamantombi uyihlo" and a chuckle escaped my lips. She turned towards me smiling... kissing my shoulder as it was closer to her.

Niqua: Finally.
Me: Watsho ngathi kudala ugacile.
Niqua: Well... maybe kudala.
Me: Come one babe... why didn't you just ask?
Niqua: Ubungazocing'ba I am weird? Or too forward?
Me: Well you are forward, generally but weird? No.

She hit my chest playfully.

Niqua: Now that we have actually engaged sexually, what is going to happen? Are we going to schedule for such or are we going to depend of spontaneity?
Me: Schedule? Like married people?
Niqua: Haibo your tone!
Me: Hayibo, I am shocked!

She rolled her eyes, turned to lie on her belly and support her weight on her shoulders.

Niqua: What I mean is that... I would actually like a continuation of this. I enjoyed having sex with you, you're gentle, you're... phew!
Me: Ungavumi ukuba yi catchist just because of sex, haibo smart girl!

She blushed, shaking her head.

Me: Look, the only reason it took this long for me to even tap that is because I am not necessarily a huge sex fan, you know. I am not the "wait for marriage" type of guys too, but I believe the moment should be special.
Niqua: So you are going for spontaneity.
Me: Maybe, I don't know.
Niqua: Did you at least enjoy it?
Me: Absolutely, but like I said, I am not the type that goes crazy because of sex and I would advise you to not be that type of girl too. There's much more to look forward to in a relationship besides sex.

She frowned...

Me: You probably know this already, but I will say it anyway. Our parents had us when they were quite young, they were both still in school and the only money my dad had was whatever his father paid him from running the spaza shop they had. I don't have a hustle, let alone a side hustle like he did so I wouldn't want to put my mother through that again. Ewe yona imnandi isex and somewhat exciting but I know my dreams are bigger than having that one mistake lingering over my head for life.
Niqua: I get you, and I feel like we are both smart. We will never make lo mistake.
Me: It's called a mistake because no one plans for it to happen... I don't want to find both of us in a situation we could have easily avoided.

She nodded, playing with the end of the sheet...

Niqua: So what are you saying?

She asked almost whispering...

Me: I am saying, let us enjoy each other, and the relationship... without comparing it to that of your friends because I do feel like there's some comparison going on. Asifani and asina goals na families zifanayo, we don't have to do into kuba isenziwa ngabantu bonke.
Niqua: Okay... I can do that.
Me: You sound upset.
Niqua: A minute ago I wanted to be upset, and then I realized ba unyanisile. Andikho ready mna to be a teenage mom, ndiyakwi matric next year and after that it's university... I have my whole life planned out and a child is not part of the plans.
Me: A minute ago you were upset? Why?
Niqua: Because I thought you were the type of guys that would have sex with a girl and then dump her. It felt like that... but... ndiyakuva. You make valid points, and I should be grateful that at least one of us is smarter.

I laughed at her, she was giving me the "don't repeat what I said" look.

Me: I would never dump you after having sex with you. That's mean, and cold.
Niqua: I know.
Me: Good, now kiss me?

We stayed in bed for a couple more minutes before she asked me to show her the shower, I let her have her moment and then went in after her. By the time I came out, she was already fully dressed so I called a cab for her... and walked her out as we waited for it. I hooked my arm in hers as we stood outside the yard...

Me: You've been smiling since you got out of the shower.
Niqua: I'm happy, do you blame me?
Me: Nah I don't, I'm actually glad you came here bengekho oo Musa otherwise bebezokufaka e court.
Niqua: We should organize a playdate with them at the park soon, my little nephew is dying of isiyali apha.
Me: You want us to babysit at the park? Are you serious?
Niqua: Wait, you don't like kids?
Me: There happens to be two brats emva kwam, I am not sure about liking them but I know I wouldn't want to spend an entire day chasing after them at the park when I could be chilling on a plaid fleece feeding you strawberries.

She blushed, hiding her face on my chest.

Me: Sizobhatalwa malini?
Niqua: Yho yho yho, I don't know how oo Musa cope with having you as their brother shame. I really don't.

And just as she said that, oo Musa arrived, kanye xabesohlika her ride also arrived. I laughed at Sim's facial expression as she walked past us and went to wait for me on the stoep. Shaniqua left, and I returned back to my people.

Musa: You didn't introduce your friend to us. Does mom know you brought a friend over?
Me: This is exactly why I didn't introduce you to her, ubuza oko.

She huffed and walked inside, Undi didn't even bother, he went straight to the couch and put on cartoons.

Sim: And then?
Me: And then there were four Ntabeni nosy kids.
Sim: Ungandidiki mna.
Me: What do you want?
Sim: What was she doing here?
Me: She came to visit me...
Sim: Mmh...

I laughed at her and walked straight to my room. There was nothing more for me to say, this was none of her business.
