OoMalume baka Mam'Sonto bangenelela and tried to stop the feud, and in that very moment, Uncle Vuyo called and asked that I send him my location. I did, and went to fetch my bag then ndayohlala emotweni. The driver looked at me...

Driver: U right mntanam?

I shook my head, trying not to cry.

Driver: Wawudibanaphi naba bantu? Ndiyaqala mna ubona amagqirha angazaziyo noba angoo "camagu" okanye angoo "thokoza" ngabo. Yingxubevange nje yento endingayaziyo into elapha.

I didn't respond.

I didn't know what to say in response, and I was just sitting in his car to pass time. I saw Zibu coming to the car, and I breathed, preparing to defend myself. She opened the door, and came to sit next to me in silence. I counted from ten, mentally, and as I got to four, she blurted out.

Zibu: She raped me too, in Cape Town, last week.

Me: What? Who?

Zibu: Bakholiwe, who else?

I suddenly felt like there was some snow nearby.

My response came out as a whisper.

Me: Why didn't you say anything?

Zibu: I reported her to Mam'Sonto, akhonto yenziwayo ngalonto and yes, I don't have evidence.

Me: Ah... so uqhelile nyhani ukuyenza lento u Bakholiwe.

Zibu: Ayisitho sodwa Sim, nabanye abalapha ngaphakathi, some are even older than us.

Me: Why is there no one standing up against her? Why is everyone quiet?

Zibu: The world is not as black and white as you may think Simbongile, and some of us have to stick it out at least ide igqithe le period.

Me: Ndiyagoduka mna, stick it out nodwa guys.

Zibu: Sewuzogqiba Sim nyamezela, this is your last month entwasweni and then you'll be free from this whole thing.

Me: This is my last hour in this place Zibusisiwe, and then I will walk away from this whole sham and hopefully erase all memories because right now? Ku bitter yonkinto.

She nodded and didn't argue any further.

My phone rang, it was Uncle Vuyo.

Me: Malume?

Vuyo: Ndilapha emva kwe mini buses ezimbini, phuma.

Me: Okay ndiyeza.

I hung up and looked at Zibu while taking my bag. She looked at me, then at my bag and then her mouth dropped. I walked out without saying a word, ndayokhangela u Malume. She followed behind me, Uncle Vuyo stepped out of his car and walked towards me and he got to me just as Zibu was getting to me. We hugged, he took my bag and walked back to the car, I breathed, thinking about Zibu and the rest of them.

Zibu: You're really leaving?

Me: Yes.

Zibu: Did you tell them?

Me: No, they don't deserve anything. They took Bakholiwe's side Zibu, they don't care about us.

She nodded, and then asked for my number ndamnika. We hugged and then I left with Uncle Vuyo.

He didn't ask much, just asked if I was hungry and what I wanted to eat ndamxelela ogqiba ndacimela. He bought me food, and then took me to his house where he showed me the bathroom and a room if I wanted to take a nap.
