-Siyambonga Ntabeni-
I think one other thing that was irritating about having young siblings was that whenever mom couldn't be around, Sim and I had to step in. It wasn't a matter of having a choice, we had to. My plans got ruined when Sim woke me up efuna umamakhe crying, I knew I had to cancel everything when mom called on umakazi and said they were going to fetch umntanakhe. So I went back to bed, and texted Niqua think she will only see the message ovuka kwakhe angabisalungisa for our plans. She video called me as soon as she got the message...
Me: Why aren't you sleeping?
Niqua: I had insomnia. Is Sim okay?
Me: I don't know, mom and makazi just left bathi bayomthatha.
Niqua: Are they driving down?
Me: Yup.
Niqua: Yho... did she say bazobuya nini? I mean, we don't have to cancel. We could just reschedule.
Me: We could reschedule if you don't mind waiting for weeks on end.
Niqua: But baby you just said your mom went to fetch Sim... why would we have to wait for weeks?
Me: Umama never leaves anything without wrapping it up. If there's anything wrong that happened kula trip ka Sim then she probably will not come back home until she has answers.
She didn't respond.
Me: We'll talk when I wake up, bye?
Niqua: Bye.
I hung up and lay on my back.
A few minutes later, Undi came knocking on my door and asked for umamakhe. I explained to him uyephi, he asked to sleep in my bed so I made space for him. That morning turned into almost a week, even Musa wanted to sleep on my bed. On the third day, Shaniqua came by, after school. Musa and her protégé were fast asleep in mom's bed. I only allowed them to nap there emini because it was closer to the kitchen and the lounge. I would be able to hear if kwenzeka into.
Thimna texted when she got to the gate, I was surprised, because she didn't notify me prior to that ukuba uzofika. I ran to the front door, and she just casually waved so I opened the gate and just stored there. She smiled, walking up to me and I opened my arms for a hug.
Me: Hey.... What are you doing here?
She just laughed, squeezing me tight and then she broke the hug, kissed my lips and walked inside leaving me confused at the door. I found her in the lounge, I sat on the armrest and just looked at her.
Niqua: I just missed you, don't give me that look.
Me: It's a school day, you could have just called.
Niqua: I know, but I really wanted a physical hug mfondini yho.
I nodded, and went to get her a drink and cookies.
I didn't mind her rocking up unannounced, the only issue I had was oo Musa and their questions. I brought back the welcome drinks and sat right next to her. We caught up, she gave me notes and homework. I had already received some via our WhatsApp group but I didn't want her to feel bad so I took the notes and then we chilled on the couch. She removed her shoes, and lay next to me as I put on some cartoons. I didn't feel like watching anything serious. I kissed her neck, pulling her closer because she had her back towards me.
Niqua: Obuya kuka mamakho we need a movie date shame, at my place.
Me: Do I get to pick the movie?
Niqua: You get to buy snacks baby, I pick the movie.
