"Oh my god", said Omar stunned and almost lost her balance.
"You...You didn't just do that" Daphne jumped back.
"Holy shit I think I did! Aa!" She shrieked and appeared confused before taking several long breaths. It's been proven. I can do it.I do have powers. And I probably also created that portal, she thought. She took a last breath and approached the withered flower. She touched it with her hand. "It is dead... It is so fucking dead. Oh my..It's .."
"Dead, we.. got it" Omar also expressed her disbelief. The shocked expression on her face soon got replaced by a smirk. "Yes! I called it!" Shouted Omar, thinking about that sweet sweet raise she'd get by Aziel once he found out about this. Kaili also seemed excited and started laughing. "I can do it! The flower is dead!!" she pointed at it and held her stomach.
"That is...So awesome!" Daphne smiled along with Kaili. They celebrated for a little bit and danced, while Omar just stared at them and grinned at how ridiculous they looked. Kaili suddenly stopped dancing and looked at the ceiling , thinking.
"Then, wait, if I'm a god...That means my mother is also a god and she didn't tell me all this time..!"
"That's...Not so awesome."
"Why would she do that?!"
"Oh so we are not partying anymore?" asked Omar.
"Why would she hide it from me?! Jesus Christ , she's a horrible mother why would she not tell me!?"
"Hey , Kaili , calm down. You don't know her reasons.." said Daphne.
"No , I might not know them but I'm a freaking adult she should have told me by now! I could have not caused these two accidents had she told me about my powers!"
"I...I understand Kaili, but look at the bright side! Now you know!"
"Now it's too late...I already harmed my share of people.."
Daphne went quiet.. She hugged Kaili tight. Omar stared at them from afar and waited for the pitying time to be over.
"Kaili , do not feel bad about what you did. You're a smart kid, I think at least...Honestly I don't know, you could be dumb as hell and I wouldn't tell. Either way you know your thoughts weren't anything but angry thoughts...Blame your mother if you want and shit , but don't let your powers discourage you. Now you know you have a power. Better take good use of it next time , but that's it. Okay , kid?!"
Kaili sat there and listened. She had a point. She was blaming her mother just because she harmed people. But truly , there is no one to blame. She doesn't know her mother's motive behind not telling her , and she didn't know she could actually cause harm to someone , at least not til after. She took a few breaths and nodded at Omar. "That's my girl!" Omar cheered. Kaili held the book close once again and continued reading about the god families. Then she pointed at one page on the book with her index finger.*Portal creation.
The capacity to create and pass through rifts in space and time to quickly move between two locations is known as portal creation. This ability is mostly focused on travel and enables people to travel short distances with ease. Before going extinct, most gods possessed this ability."Before going extinct?" Asked Kaili, "So gods are extinct creatures?"
"Yeah , the only known god that is still alive is our emperor!"
"So , me being a god is something cool?"
"You could say that it is kind of cool " Daphne smiled.
"But...It doesn't show how to create portals.." Kaili sighed and looked through other pages in an attempt to find more information on portal creation. Yet , nothing new. Kaili closed the book.
"What were you doing when you opened that portal?"
"I was.. I was crying and having a panic attack" she admitted.
"What if you have to be feeling a strong emotion to open it then?"
"But.. Wait , that could be it but also I feel like , you know, it doesn't sound as cool.."
"She's right , chief. It doesn't sound cool" said Omar and pointed at Kaili.
"She gets it." smiled Kaili.
"Then.. what if it has to do with the place you're at? Maybe it needs to be somewhere high or something. Was your room upstairs or downstairs?" questioned Daphne , trying to figure out how portal opening works.
"It's upstairs.. Wait that makes sense. This could be it! Good job Daphne!"
"Thank you! I'm an inventor after all! I'm bound to be smart!" she smiled smugly and crossed her arms proudly.
"We need to try this out. Does this motel have a roof?" asked Kaili.
Omar looked up and bit the inside of her cheek before responding. "Yup, there is a roof, we could go try it out on the go!" Omar started getting excited as well.
"Yay! Let's go then! I'mma show you how to make a portal!" Kaili left the book on the bed and followed Omar , with Daphne tagging along.
As they were walking upstairs , the creaking sounds of the stairs creeped Daphne out. They got on the roof, where Kaili got close to the center. She closed her eyes and focused on creating it , holding her breath for a bit out of excitement. And there it was. An energy source appeared that created a portal. Daphne and Omar both looked at each other smiling and grinning in awe. Omar raised her fist and celebrated with a "whooo!" Sound. Kaili opened her eyes and saw the portal. She was so excited, widening her eyes and slightly opening her mouth in shock , but quickly, before she could process what she did , the portal vanished.
"Huh? What? Why?! Did you guys see that?" She turned to look at the two women, who were too stunned to speak.
"I..I did! What the hell? Why did it fade?" questioned Daphne , bewildered.
"Kids , I'm really not sure if I'm drunk or not cause what tha hell did I just witness..." Omar had seen too much in one day to believe she's actually sober. Thinking of it , she doesn't recall drinking anything today. So what even was this?
"I did it ...But suddenly I am tired and I can't seem to find my energy.. Why did this tire me so much? I didn't even manage to do it completely."
"Christie I think you should probably eat a meal before trying this again. Maybe because you're on an empty stomach."
"It's Kaili...And maybe you're right I should go eat something. Let's go , Daphne?"
"Yeah let's go! Hey , lieutenant, do you think Aziel is ready to meet me today?"
"I doubt it , my brother would have passed if he was , or at least his men."
"Ah I see! Okay! Sorry for asking so much I'm just super excited!"
"I can tell , you studying to be a half-wit."
"Eh?"
Guards suddenly materialized in front of the girls as they were making their way to the tavern that Omar usually frequents. They appeared on an empty street where no one could see them. When Kaili turned to look, she saw more guards rushing for her from behind. Omar stomped her foot on the ground and demanded their salutations while Daphne recoiled in fear. The guards saluted and also stomped their feet onto the ground.
"The emperor sent us to find a red headed girl with braids , fitting his description, such as her. We've come to arrest her" said a guard. "They said she's accompanied by you."
"And why's you come to arrest her?" Omar inquired in a monotone irritated voice. She continued to stamp furiously on the ground.
"A woman at the motel claimed she can open portals and make flowers die"
Ah , shit, the rooms ain't soundproof, Omar recalled.
"And Aziel himself told ya to arrest her?"
"Yes, sir." They said and grabbed Kaili by the arms tightly.
"Let me go! Let me goo!!" yelled Kaili and tried kicking them but ,in vain , since the guards held her still. They wouldn't let go , and they were strong , far stronger than Kaili. Daphne withdrew stealthily behind Omar and Omar was trying her best to make the situation at least a bit calmer for Kaili. She wanted to be the one who would show Aziel. Not the guards.
"If you keep fighting, I'm gonna leave you unconscious. You better stay still and forfeit."
"Die , you pieces of shit!" wished Kaili. She did in fact wish , and her wish became reality. The guard who threatened her immediately fell on his knees, letting go of Kaili , and died in her command, by a possible heart attack.
Kaili quickly drew away from the other guard and saw him vanish as well, despite the fact that she didn't explicitly wish for his death. The other guards attempted to flee but collapsed next to their comrades. Kaili , shocked , ran and hugged Daphne. Daphne quickly hugged her back.
"A-Are you okay? Did I do this?" asked Kaili , with sweat dripping from her forehead.
"I guess you did! Holy shit.. But I'm glad you're okay... Poor guards, they just followed orders.. Holy shit , corpses, I'm gonna vomit.."
"I-I'm gonna faint."
"No , don't! Lieutenant, do you have water with you?"
Omar quickly pulled a bag of water out of her satchel and passed it over to Daphne , who, with a turn started pouring the cold water on Kaili's face as for her to not faint. Kaili held on to Daphne and took deep breaths.
"Good , good kid , stay with us." Said Omar.
Daphne laid Kaili down on her back.
"You're gonna be fine! See , all good!" smiled Daphne and held Kaili close.
"Thank you..." said Kaili.
"More guards are gonna be here soon , we need to hide you from them for a bit.. Well , for as long as we can!"
"We can't just hide her," stated Omar. "She needs to turn herself in or she will be in bigger trouble , trust me."
"What? Are you saying I should turn myself in?" asked Kaili confused , and nearly unconscious.
"Yeah I am.. But don't ya worry , I'll explain what happened to Aziel , or , hm , Myron might actually do the dirty work for us.."
"Good idea, teacher's pet , right?"
"What?" asked Omar , confused, as she was unaware of what teacher's pet meant.
"I mean , Aziel's pet , right?"
"Oh, 'f course, yup" she agreed.
"Fine , lieutenant, I'll trust you. As long as I don't die or suffer in prison , it will do!" said Kaili and smiled, "Let's turn ourselves in! Whooooh!" she raised her hands , acting excited, still laying on the street. Daphne giggled, but it wasn't til she remembered the corpses being right in front of her , that it made her throw up. She couldn't hold it in after all.Once Kaili felt well enough to stand up , she did , and she followed Omar to the castle, after Omar called other guards to gather the corpses. Daphne was shocked after what happened that day. There was no doubt Kaili was a god , and there was also no doubt that what she did to the guards was horrifying. But she couldn't be too scared. They had bonded overtime and Daphne knew Kaili wouldn't intentionally hurt a fly. Or would she?
Having arrived at the entrance of the castle , Omar asked yet again to see her brother, who immediately showed up after being called. He probably didn't have much to do. Myron got outside and glared at Eva who seemed to be in a "good mood".
"Hello, little cunt!" she said and pushed her brother playfully.
"What do you want?" he asked in a low tone.
"So , Stella is wanted by some-"
"Kaili" corrected Myron.
"Kaili was ran after by some guards... But uuuh , she sorta ended up killing the guards and crap and all we know is she is mainly wanted by Aziel."
"She did what?!"
"Yeah I know , don't mention it you'll scare the kids."
"But the- But! What?!"
"It was an accident, forget it. Either way can you sugarcoat the situation to Aziel so Riley doesn't die?"
"I could try. But what would I gain? You didn't bring the stuff.."
"I won't beat you up? What kinda question is that you vlaka." Omar demanded him to do something. She got close to his face and looked at him with her classic threatening stare. "All Aziel needs to know is that Kaili found out she can open portals and manipulate life. Do not let him know we were hiding this from him. Pretend that we were about to show up to him anyways."
"I'll see what I can do." he conceded.
He said this and went straight inside, hoping to persuade Aziel that Kaili's life was worth living.
