JOCK AN AND VERY CLUELESS NERDY AKITO WHO DOESN'T KNOW HER>>>>ALSO THE HEIGHTS IN THIS STORY (EXCEPT FOR AKITO) ARE NOT ACCURATE
On his second week at a new school, Akito seemed to notice that everyone was tall. Like taller than him, a man who is 5'8.
Akito shook it off as people being athletic, but even unathletic people were tall. The shortest person in the school was 5'6, so the average height for lockers was 5'8. The same size as Akito.
Going to his locker was a hassle. Pushing through 5'10 and above students, not being able to see overheads, and sometimes missing his locker and having to go back through the crowd that was pushing forward.
On a fateful Thursday, it took Akito twice as long to get to his locker as normal, putting him off schedule, and adding to his terrible mood.
As Akito slammed the door of the locker just to hear a voice calling out from above.
"You're pretty short, bro."
Akito looked up to see a girl, about 6'2, with black and blue hair and amber eyes.
Akito pursed his lips, craning his neck to look up at the girl.
"Okay?" Akito crossed his arms across his chest, the sass prominent in his voice.
"Calm down, Carrot Kid, I didn't mean any malice behind it." The girl said, leaning against the locker next to his.
"Yeah, okay. Who even are you?"
The girl's face altered, changing from smiling to confused. "You don't know me?" the girl asked, a small smile adding itself onto her confused face.
"No, I don't. So are you gonna tell me or not?" Akito asked, getting impatient for he had to get to class.
"I'm Shiraishi An, first name An, last name Shiraishi! It's nice to meet you, Carrot Kid!"
Akito grumbled. "My name is Shinonome Akito, not Carrot Kid."
"Shinonome? Are you Ena's brother? You guys look nothing alike!"
Akito started to walk off, but unfortunately for him, An followed.
An kept blabbing out questions, not getting answers. With each question, Akito got more irritated. Luckily for him, he had reached his classroom.
"Can you go now? This is my classroom." Akito asked, praying she was a senpai.
"Woah, you're in this class too? How have we never seen each other before?"
Every part of that story made Akito's heart drop to his balls. An Shiraishi. In his class. For the rest of the year.
This was gonna be Akito's 13th reason.
Akito cursed to himself, pushing the door open and walking to his seat as An followed, still spouting out nonsense that Akito didn't bother to pay attention to.
"You're here early today, An." A person in the seat next to Akito said, pulling An out of her trance of questions.
"Ki! I made a new friend!"
The supposed "Ki" made a face. "Are you sure you guys are friends? He's kinda..." Their voice hushed to a whisper though still audible for Akito to hear, "weird."
"Mizuki! That was rude! He's not weird, he's just new and needs a friend to warm up to! Say you're sorry!"
Akito blushed. He hid his face in his arms, putting his head down. "It's not that big of a deal." He said, trying to de-escalate the situation.
"Ki, you made him sad!" An moved to sit next to Akito's head. "Are you okay?" An asked, worry seeping through her voice. It gave a pang through Akito's heart.
"I'm fine, it's not that big of a deal."
An stayed silent but Akito could hear the pout on her face. "If you say so."
"I... I'm sorry for saying that! I wasn't thinking about what I said." Mizuki said, standing up to face him.
Akito looked at them with a look of disgust. "You don't need to lie to me. You thought about your words because you lowered your voice in hopes I wouldn't hear it."
Mizuki scoffed, sitting back down. "Geez, I was just trying to be nice."
"Nothing about your first impression was nice."
Akito looked to his side, noticing the frown on An's face.
"I thought you guys were gonna be friends..." An said, solemnly.
"...sorry," Akito said, looking away to hide his ashamed face.
"No, if anything Mizuki should be saying sorry. They shouldn't say those things about people they just met."
Akito was shocked. Never would he think An could make smart thoughts.
"The bells are about to ring, so I'll get going. See ya after class!"
Akito didn't even get to say anything before An skipped off to her seat.
Maybe a year with An wouldn't be so bad...
