A/N: I forgot how much fun it is to make graphics lol. This chapter is a bit longer :)

also I used the name Peter for 001 in this since it's the name he's probably used to after all these years

It was completely dark by the time they found Charlie. The small puppy was currently in Samantha's arms seeking solace from the cold, shivering. They were still walking back from the woods, Samantha leading the way. She glanced over at Peter, who was trailing behind her at an even pace. His expression was blank as he kept his eyes on the trees ahead. She wondered what was on his mind. What had happened to him that he wasn't willing to share with her? More importantly what or who was he running from? His eyes met her's when he noticed her staring and his brow quirked at her expectantly. She quickly looked away, her heart stuttering from nerves. She didn't know what she was doing. Some part of her wanted to run, run far away from this situation. She really hoped she wouldn't regret helping him. It would be wrong to leave him alone, dangerous even, for him. But she wondered if it was more dangerous taking him with her.

She clutched Charlie tighter in her grip, resisting the urge to bury her face in his soft white fur. The pup looked up at her, big doe eyes watching her. "Don't worry buddy, we'll be home soon."

She could see the artificial glow of the streetlights through the trees ahead, and almost sighed in relief. She turned to Peter and smiled. "My house is just up ahead."

He nodded in response.

As they reached the paved road, Samantha stopped just before stepping onto the dark pavement. She glanced around the road, looking down the lane of houses before turning to Peter beside her. She was searching for any sign of life in the neighborhood.

He peered down at her, his eyebrows furrowed. "Is something the matter?"

"Well, I'm just worried someone will see you." She looked up at him, then back at the road. "You are covered in blood after all and I've got some nosy neighbors. I don't want them thinking I've taken home a serial killer and become an accomplice to murder or something."

God, she really hoped he wasn't a serial killer.

"Of course, I should've thought about that." He nodded. "However, it does look like the coast is clear."

They stepped onto the road, and hurriedly walked towards a house on the end of the street. It was a nice, quaint house painted a light blue and gray. Samantha stepped up to the porch, setting down Charlie carefully. Then she scrambled to pull out her keys. She fitted them into the lock and looked up at Peter, hoping that this wasn't a completely horrible decision.

The lock of the door clicked as the key turned and she swung the door open, almost collapsing at the warm familiarity of the house after being out in those cold woods for hours. She ushered Peter and Charlie inside, turning on the lights as she did so. She started to take off her coat and set down her keys in the tray on the shelf by the door. Charlie ran off into the kitchen presumably to get some water. Peter stood awkwardly in the entrance of the house, glancing around at everything with mild interest.

She turned towards him flashing a smile and opened her arms to wave them dramatically. "Welcome to my humble abode."

When she finished setting down her flashlight and coat, she turned back to Peter and said, "I'm going to go check on Charlie and then I'll get you some of the things you'll probably need. In the mean time, make yourself at home."

Left to his own devices, Peter glanced around the entrance of the house. The walls were a clean slate gray and everything seemed to be perfectly placed around the room. Everything except for the girl's belongings, which she had scattered around. It was almost jarring, the cluttered mess in the midst of the clean swept look of the rest of the room. It reminded him a bit of the lab; boring and almost too perfect. He was glad to finally be out of that hell, despite what it had cost him. But he wouldn't think about that right now.
