Ah, that little bitch tattled on you.
And the day before Stella's debut.
Just your luck, really. You just had the luck to be reincarnated in a cheesy romance novel that has extreme sexism, you were reincarnated into a character that was destined to die, and you had a fangirl that's trying to stop your attempts in achieving a peaceful life. Seriously, how lucky are you?
You could've been reincarnated into one of your favorite anime series like BNHA or your favorite game like Genshin Impact or Twisted Wonderland. You could've met your fictional husbands Trey, Cater, Ruggie, Leona, Jamil, and more. You could've met Todoroki, Bakugou, or any other of your favorite characters.
But no, fate decided you were more suited for this life. It must really hate you, huh.
"Ms. Demain, are you listening!?"
Ah, right. You were being scolded by the housekeeper who looked at you sternly, behind her was the scullery maid, Ella, scowling at you but you could see the glimmer of smugness in her eyes. You could guess she's using the 'If you won't listen then I'll make you' tactic. But honestly, she's being childish. Could she be a preteen? If that's so, then that would explain a bunch of stuff.
"Yes, ma'am," you responded.
"Then you know why you are here," she tuts haughtily. "Dear Ella here have reported to me that you assaulted her when no one's looking!"
'But she kidnapped me first,' you complained internally.
"Do you have an excuse for this!?"
You sighed as you clasped your hands together in a show of poise and elegance. 'Keep calm,' you chided yourself, 'she's above you so show your obedience for now and make sure to never interact with Ella ever again.'
"Will you believe me if I said that she's the one who started it?" you asked, keeping your voice even and void of any emotions indicating your true feelings.
The housekeeper bristled. "Why should I-"
"You should listen to her, Housekeeper."
Your eye immediately went to Helios who entered the silent kitchen where the confrontation was in place, shocking Ella and the housekeeper. "Your highness!" the housekeeper stammered as she curtsied. Ella stuttered in her curtsied as she greeted the prince. You sigh through your nose as you picked the sides of your skirt and curtsied at the prince. "Greeting, Prince Helios."
"Rise," he demanded to which you followed. He turned to the Housekeeper and Ella. "I suggest that you listen to both stories of the people involved, you never know when there's more to it."
"B-But your majesty!" Ella butted in. "Scullery maid (Y/N) did attack me! See the marks on my cheeks! She did that with her nails!" she then turned her head to show the marks that you left.
Helios, instead of looking understanding, snarled at her. "As if you weren't the one who shoved her in the storage room, maid." Ella yelped at the venom in his voice. "Did you think no one was there when you dragged her to the storage room? What a fool you are! And your voice was loud enough for anyone to guess that you were shouting at her."
"She what!?" the housekeeper looked at Ella in horror, the said girl only looked down in shame. Helios clicked his tongue. "Pathetic, no wonder you got those marks. Anyone would've been livid if they were in her position. I expect you to learn from this, maid."
With that, he turned on his heel and left the room. You looked at the man with a new interest. You would've thought he defended you if it weren't for the fact he hates inefficient workers that cause trouble, and it was luck that he was there when Ella did her kidnapping.
Maybe your luck wasn't so bad after all.
