it was nearing 5:30pm and jungwon was patiently waiting for jian to arrive. he held on tightly onto the heat packs he had prepared because it was definitely still quite cold at this time. while he was definitely looking forward to spending time alone with the girl, it suddenly hit him that it was probably one of the last times he could hang out with her in this way. after all, she belonged to someone else; at least in his thoughts, she did.
"jungwon !"
the boy spun around, a smile creeping onto his face at the sight of the girl running towards him.
"you didn't have to run."
jian panted, trying to catch her breath quickly before giving a reply, "didn't want to keep you waiting."
"it's alright. you're just in time."
"for what ?"
without a word, he pointed towards the sky, now filled with rich colours. painted in colour palettes ranging from yellow to pink and rays of blue at the horizon. her eyes widened in awe. had it been any later, she would have missed the golden hour of the day.
jungwon turned to look at the girl. he couldn't help but to notice her features once more. he was certain she looked even more beautiful with such a sunset in the background, but he could not ignore the rapidly increasing speed of his heart beat. in that moment, he felt the world pause for a moment. it was just him and the girl under the sky. unconsciously, he pulled out his phone, taking a few pictures of her to capture the moment, a moment he wished that would last forever.
he stared at the girl.
do i like you ?
jian felt his stare on her and so she turned to meet his eyes. and as if it were just the two living in the world, they stared into each other's eyes, feeling something they had never experienced before.
and in that exact moment, jungwon realised his feelings. it was in that moment that he finally admitted to himself that he had indeed fallen for the girl.
fk. i like you noona.
his eyes fell from her eyes to her lips and all of a sudden, the temptation was too much. her heart raced like no tomorrow as she followed his gaze and although it didn't feel right, she wanted his too. then without another moment of hesitation, he stepped forward, wrapped his arm around her waist to pull her closer and then, connected their lips. her arms naturally moved to hold onto his shirt while deepening the kiss.
yet, the sudden realisation of what they were doing hit jungwon. almost immediately, he pushed her off; the girl falling backwards due to the impact. she looked at him with evident pain in her eyes.
"fk, i'm so sorry." he apologised, his voice slightly shaking.
he quickly helped her up, making sure she had no injuries and then once again, keeping a distance. jian looked at him, in hopes that he would say something, but he was too lost in his thoughts.
"jungwon -"
"i'm sorry. i got too caught up in the moment. i know taehyun hyung is courting you."
jian immediately frowned, realising what she had just done. she too had gotten so lost within him that the taehyun had completely escaped her mind.
"look, jungwon-"
"i'll go now. goodbye noona." and with that, he turned and ran away, without even sparing a glance.
she was hurt. obviously she was hurt, but she knew she had no right to be hurt. she had just betrayed taehyun like that. again. yet what hurt her the most was the fact that jungwon had said 'goodbye', a sense that she would never really see him again.
