September 30

Brielle sat on the hospital bed, nervously tapping her fingers on her leg as she waited for the doctor. She decided that it was time for her to start actually caring for her child. She realized that she did want to keep him or her and not put them up for adoption or get an abortion.

So Brielle made an appointment and now was waiting impatiently and anxiously. Waiting was one thing Brielle always sucked at. Her anxiety in stressful and nerve wrecking situations like this always had her panicking more than it should.

Usually she would call Chris or her parents when her anxiety got the best of her but Brielle didn't have the heart to tell the whole story on why she was anxious.

Only person who knew about her situation is Killian.

"Hello?" Killian's rang through the phone as he answered her call.

"Killian"

Brielle's stuttering and almost full blown sobbing voice caused Killian to immediately stop what he was doing and stood up from his office chair.

"Princess? What's wrong?" He asked and silently motioned for the people who were in the conference room with him to leave the room.

"I'm at the d-doctor's office getting a c-check up for the b-baby but Killian I don't think I-I can do it" Tears welled up in her eyes and she looked down at her lap as she tried to blink the tears away.

"Do what baby?"

Brielle wiped at her eyes as she let out a small sniffle. "I want this baby I do but what if I'm a bad mother?" She asks brokenly and sighed deeply. "I been neglecting and ignoring the fact that I have a baby growing inside of me for weeks now"

Killian walked back to his office and gathered his things as he spoke. "You were just trying to come to terms with your pregnancy princess. That's not a bad thing. You definitely are not neglecting your child. Look at yourself right now. You're getting the doctor's appointment you need and making sure your baby is okay. That's not neglect baby"

Brielle sniffled and shook her head. "I don't know how I'm going to do this Killian. My family don't even know about the baby. They have no clue about what happened to me that night"

"Are you going to tell them?"

She looked at her fingers as she thought over an answer. "I don't want them to be disappointed in me. My dad is my favorite person in the whole universe. I don't want him to give me that look of pity and disappointment when he finds out My mom had me very young too and I just don't want them to worry"

Before Killian could respond, Brielle looked up as the door of the room opened and a lady, with a white doctor coat on, stepped in the room. "Killian I have to go" She said before quickly saying goodbye and hanging up.

"I'm happy to wait if you need a couple minutes" The doctor said smiling at her. Brielle recognized her as the doctor who originally told Brielle that she was pregnant.

Brielle shook her head and sent the lady a polite smile. "Oh no thank you it's fine" She told her. The doctor nodded and took a seat as she turned toward the computer monitor, tapping something in that Brielle couldn't see.

"Ms.Reed I remember you from the last time you were here. My name is Doctor Crane and I will be your physician for the remainder of your pregnancy."

"Hi" Brielle said shyly and nervously played with her fingers.

The doctor's eyes focused on the monitor for a moment before looking over at Brielle. "I know that this may be a difficult situation and something that you are probably not a hundred precent prepared for so please know that I am here whenever you have any questions or concerns. I want to make sure that you are comfortable and not dealing with unneeded stress throughout your pregnancy."

Brielle grinned at her words and nodded her head. "I really appreciate that. Thank you"

"Of course." She stood up and grabbed a pair of gloves, putting them on. "Now I would like to do an ultrasound to check on your little pumpkin as well order some blood work to be done. Is that alright with you Ms.Reed?"

"Please call me Brielle or Mae" She said as she nodded her head to the doctor's question.

Doctor Crane nodded her head, sending Brielle a gentle smile. "Of course Brielle."

"I will rub this gel on your body and I do warn you that it may be a little bit cold so I apologize for that." She continued as she instructed Brielle to lay down and lift up her sweater. She rubbed the cool gel on her stomach and then lifted a wand for the ultrasound.

The doctor was right, it is a little bit cold but not as bad as Brielle thought. Brielle bit her lip as she stared up at ceiling, many thoughts running through her head.

"Okay so this right here" The doctor pointed on the screen for Brielle to see and grinned. "That is your baby. Your healthy and growing baby."

Brielle's eyes welled up in tears as she continued to stare at the screen. She moved her hand to cover her mouth as she silently cried.

My baby.

"Would you like to know their gender?"

The crying girl's eyes flicked to look at the doctor who was now staring at her. "I thought you couldn't find out until you were four months?"

"You can find out a few weeks before four months as long as the baby is positioned right. And lucky for you, your baby is positioned right"

Brielle wiped at her tears from her eyes and cheeks and nodded her head. "Yes I'll like to know"

"You, Ms.Reed, are having a healthy baby girl"
