extended summary

On the 12th hour first day of October 1989, 43 women around the world gave birth. This was unusual only in the fact that none of these women had been pregnant when the day first began. Sir Reginald Hargreeves, eccentric billionaire and adventurer, resolved to locate and adopt as many of the children as possible. He got eight of them.

Number Eight, also known as Octavia Hargreeves, was the last child that Sir Hargreeves bought from the new parents. The two were easily convinced, as they had not wanted a child in the first place. Sir Hargreeves bought her for 25 dollars.

She had always been the peacemaker, the one who was friends with everyone. Well, everyone except Luther. His superiority complex always bothered her, especially since he was clearly not the strongest of them all, nor the smartest. He let it get to his head that he was Number One.

Besides his hero complex, Diego, Number Two, was a lot more down to earth. He wasn't scared to show that he struggled with things, but it did embarrass him sometimes. Octavia and Diego occasionally sparred together, without any powers, to keep improving their fighting skills.

Allison and Octavia were close too. They did their nails together, and Number Three told Number Eight everything about the latest heartthrobs she had seen in her magazines. She could talk about it for hours, and dream on about being in the spotlight, and of course, Octavia supported her through everything. She was her sister's rock.

Number Four and Eight were partners in crime. Klaus loved to run off with Reginald's precious boxes, the two children taking them to pawn shops and exchanging the money they got from the objects, for any cool thing they could find. A few times, Klaus had attempted to buy drugs with the money, but Octavia had tried her best to keep him away from the harmful substances.

Number Five and Octavia were a different story then any of the other siblings. They didn't hate each other, they weren't sparring partners, they didn't gossip together, or pawn Reginald's stuff. What they actually did, remained a mystery for the rest of the family. Number Five would blink into Number Eight's room, and he'd stay there for hours on end. Most times, the two of them talked about anything that came to their minds, Octavia gushing about a new book she'd read and Five patiently listening to her. Sometimes they'd sit in silence, just enjoying the other's presence.

Ben and Octavia didn't talk as much, but they were friends nonetheless. Number Six knew that he could always go to Number Eight, no matter what. It was the other way around too. If Octavia had something that was bothering her, Ben would sit down with her and let her spill whatever she wanted. The two knew each others deepest secrets, and they promised they'd take their secrets to the grave.

And then there was Number Seven, Vanya. The ordinary one. Even though she didn't have majestic powers like the rest of her siblings, she still had some sort of power. Octavia could listen to Vanya playing the violin for years, she had once told her sister. Octavia always made sure to include Vanya, as she saw how much it pained her to be left out, and she hated seeing her sister feel alone.

Number Eight's relationship with herself was a curious one. She had always been a relatively happy child, sometimes grumpy when it came to their adoptive father. Octavia was a favorite among the Umbrella Academy fans, but also a favorite among the Umbrella Academy themselves. She couldn't say she was her own favorite though. Even with her powers, she felt like she couldn't do enough, and it bothered her, for years, and that feeling got worse and worse.

Now, an apocalypse is coming. The Hargreeves siblings have been walking different paths for ages, and it's time they reunite again, to save not only their city, but also the world. However, they have no idea how, and with eight days left to figure it out, they have to come up with a plan. Fast.

!important!

When I started writing this story, I didn't want to use the basic storyline, in which the mc is in a coma for 10+ years. Instead, I tried to create an original storyline, one that I personally have never seen yet. This means that a few of the dates and ages have changed in order to make the story work!

In this book, Five is 15 when he runs away and ends up in the apocalypse. When he returns to the original timeline, he is 15 too, instead of 13. More things have changed in the timeline, but to avoid spoilers, I will not state them here, as you will find out what changed as the story progresses.

Please spare me the comments saying "wasn't he 13?" or "didn't he stay there for ... years?", or anything along those lines. By writing this note, I wanted to avoid those comments, because I know that not everything stated in this book is the same as in the series. I changed things on purpose.

Thank you <3
