"So, our only lead to the apocalypse blew up. Now feels like a great time to give up and accept the fact that we're all gonna die." Octavia stuffed her hands in her pockets.

"We can't just give up." Five was walking around in circles, hands in his hair. "We can't just let everyone die, we gotta try something."

"What can we try? We have no damn clue what causes the apocalypse. For all we know it could be us, because we're trying to stop the apocalypse." The girl leaned back against the stone wall of the alley.

"What?" Five glanced up from the pavement, brows furrowed.

"Well, what if because we're trying so hard, we accidentally cause the apocalypse. If we do absolutely nothing, we know for sure that it wasn't us." She shrugged.

"Yeah, but if it wasn't us causing the apocalypse in the first place, we still die." Five deadpanned.

"Fair," the girl let her hands fall out of her pockets, and pushed herself away from the wall. "We should at least try to enjoy our last days. In case we don't figure it out."

It was as if the two suddenly realised that these were indeed their last days. There were no do-overs, no second chances. This was it. If they didn't find a way to stop the apocalypse, they would be wiped out of existence. One second, and they would all be gone, like they never even lived and breathed. Their lives meant nothing to the universe. If they were there, or if they weren't, the universe didn't care.

"I guess we can find a way to combine enjoying our last days, but still trying our best." The boy in uniform smiled a little, a genuine smile, even in a time of such horrors, he could still smile at the girl he loved.

"Really? What have you got in mind?" The corners of the girls mouth curled up.

"Something that involves a good drink."

A little while and a few bottles later, the two had found a cosy spot in the library. When they came in, already more than tipsy, they had received quite a few angry glances, considering they didn't try being mindful of their surroundings. The two bottles they had left were clattering against each other and they were chatting to each other louder than necessary.

"Five, we gotta be quiet." Octavia took the bottles from him and placed them on a desk. "They're gonna kick us out."

"I'll fight them." Five flopped down on a chair, grabbing one of the books they'd collected on their trip through the whole library.

"You think they're scared of you?" The girl sat down on another chair, giggling.

"They should be." Five scoffed, jokingly flexing his muscles.

Octavia burst out laughing, earning another handful of annoyed glares. Trying to quiet down, she held her hand in front of her mouth.

"Shh, you gotta be quiet, Tavia." The boy next to her smirked. "They'll kick us out."
