Maria had been raging inside with fury since that day with that egoistic man.

Who the hell does he think he is to say such words to her?

Be his woman?

The hell.

And the the most frustrating thing happening to her at the moment was her lack of job.

Her landlord would be coming back for his money in a few days time and she is yet to have a job talk more of having assurance of paying.

Maria had been running helter skelter seeking for job but it's either there isn't any available or the people are too racist and stupid to accept her.

Maria was sitting on her bed with a cup of tea she had made when she heard a banging knock on her door.

She stood up hurriedly and dashed towards the door. She hesitated to open it because she wasn't expecting anyone. She peeped through the peephole and found her landlord standing there with a frantic expression.

‘What is landlord Jang doing in front of her doorstep early this morning?' She thought.

She opened the door after taking a deep breathe. "Mr. Jang." She greeted but there was no reply from the man.

She look up at him and he was wearing a helpless expression. Maria became terrified. Please don't let him tell me to pack out. I haven't yet figured out how to survive.

"Mr. Jang, I promise to pay up in time before the time you gave me. I am not making excuses." She rushed out before he could say anything.

But the next thing he did shocked her to the core. Mr Jang went down on his knees in front of her.

Maria's eyes widened in shock and confusion. "Mr Jang, what are you doing?" She asked as she frantically checked around her.

"Ms. Han, I beg of you don't make me lose everything I have built all my life."
He pleaded.

What? Is this about her not paying up on her rent? "Mr. Jang please get up. I will pay you before the week runs out."

The man started to cry and Maria was petrified further. "Please don't act as though you don't know what you've done."

What she had done? But she hasn't done anything except the fact that she owes him money.

"I have only this to rely on as my son is still in coma and my wife is not as healthy as before. Please, Ms Han don't buy the building. I will let you stay here for free."

Stay here for free? And who bought the building?

"I don't understand all these things you are saying? I will pay you before the week runs out. Please get up." Maria was feeling embarrassed as her neighbors had started to gather around due to the commotion from Mr Jang's crying.

Oh God! What is this again? She wanted to hide and never show her face again. Did the landlord need to embarrass her like this?

Mr Jang stood up abruptly causing Maria to take a step back due to the rage in his eyes. "How can you be heartless. You can't pay up and then you send your sugar daddy to buy the whole building for you?"

Maria felt as though she had been slapped into stupor.

"I thought you were decent but I was wrong. Now you want to make me penniless. Please, tell them not to buy my building. It's all I've got." Mr. Jang cried at the end of his statement.

Maria felt paralyzed as the landlord's words sunk in. Her nose tingled but she turned around and walked into her house while slamming the door lock just as she heard accusing murmurs of her neighbors.
