Ch. 1Cleo was not use to the wizard schooling system. She had only arrived at Hogwarts last year and it was clear that she had no clue what was going on around her.
At her high school, she was the type of student no one talked to even on the last day of school. Simply because of her very poor attendance.
This did not fly at her new school.
"You're late." Snape sneered looking at girl.
Cleo sniffled moving from the door towards her chair. "Professor Snape" she greeted quietly.
Snape ignored this going on with his lesson.
She relaxed into her seat relieved he didn't go on about her being late to class too much—"Don't plan on going anywhere after class"
She hummed in response slightly disappointed she couldn't fly under the radar.
"As I was saying before I was interrupted" he sends a look her way, irritated at her small attention span. She leans back in her seat her drooping eyes staring at the ceiling. "We will be brewing the draught of living death, those of you capable will move on to tonight's homework"
The entire class stared up at him nervous and wide eyed waiting for his next words. All but one which didn't go past his notice. He scoffed annoyed at their hollow gazes. "Get started" he snaps at them.
A student flinches in his seat at his voice. The rest of the class scrambled to get to their stations.
"Ms.Valentine my desk."
His response was unexpected causing her to look up. She moves strolling over her hands in her pockets.
That was probably one of the only things he could say he admired her for. She didn't sit around gaping at him, waiting until he had to repeat himself. She listened, got what she was instructed to done and didn't stay around longer than she had to.
He believed he would have enjoyed her in his class, that is if she showed up more than once a week.
"You haven't read the textbook preparations have you?" His eyes still trailed a piece of parchment on his desk.
It wasn't like the teachers at hogwarts hadn't all tried to get her to go to class. Detentions, letters home, long repetitive lectures, threats of expulsion, they had done it all.
To the point they were sure it had finally sparked something in her. But, the day would go by and there was still an empty chair in the corner of the classroom, which had convinced them she never had any actual intention of showing up.
"I did" she looks down at her nails.
"Shocking" she looks at him trying to read if he was being sarcastic or not. "Really it is a surprise"
She frowns. "I keep up"
Her comments had been ignored, as he tended to drown out her mumbling. "Right, you are aware how dangerous brewing a potion without preparation can be correct?"
Her arms now crossed over her chest a little annoyed she was going to have to tell him she had actually done the work. Again. "I am." She side eyed him as he finished with attendance. "Does that mean I'm allowed to brew it?"
