Ch.10
She was trying to think about other things. ADefinitely not what her defense against the arts Professor looked like without clothes.
It was hard when everything seemed to remind her of it.
She followed Professor Hagrid and the class to the woods outside his hut.
"Today we are studying magical creatures and how to tame 'em" he leads the class towards the calmed creature.
"Now, Hippogriffs are real hard to train, so ya've gotta be gentle. When ya approach a young hippogriff, ya show yer respect and ya earn its trust. Understand?"
Her classmates follow his instructions and only approach when given instructions to do so.
She had learned her lesson from her last trips to the woods.
Her classmates all walk through allowing the creature to smell their scent.
"Nows yer chance. Step forward and let it sniff ya" Hagrid says instructing her.
She hadn't moved forward her eyes not straying from the animal between them.
"No thank you Professor."He gives her a strange look.
"I'm not the best with animals...."
He laughs at her words. "It's alright lass, Hippogriffs can be real scary at first.
But let me tell ya, they're actually real sweethearts once ya've tamed 'em."She looks away.
"No worries. It's good to see ya here now though." He laughs again making her realize he has a very bubbly personality. "Is it yer first year here I haven't seen ya around too much?"
"Yeah, my first year at a wizard high school too"
"Actually it's not called th—"
She sighs.
~~His policies were overwhelming her.
Or more specifically he was.But she surprised herself with her continuous attendance. She found herself once again seated across from the professor now having got through the majority of her detention. The two sat at a long wooden table in the empty library.
"Have you had time to go over last classes assignment today?" Severus Snape asks closing his book.
She had glanced at the title page.
"Yep"
His brow quirks, he sets the book down figuring he'd finished for the day. "And your thoughts on it?"
She shrugs her forehead resting on her hand. "A bit bland but I suppose it serves its purpose." She gives him a perfunctory report.
He almost rolls his eyes at her careless response. "I was referring to the content." He was annoyed with her dwindling engagement.
But it wasn't like she was purposely being difficult.
"Do you really care about my thoughts?" She mutters without second thought.
Was she?
She assumed he'd prefer to judge the work she turned in and not her emotions about it. She wasn't entirely wrong. Her time with the man had definitely caused a mirroring of his own behavior, which going past the Professor noticed has caused a growing disapproval of the girl.
It was hard to focus on what he was asking. Her mind kept drifting else where.
She found herself thinking about an interaction she'd had with the defense against the dark arts professor on the way over to her detention.
