Ch.3
It was almost 10 pm when Cleo decided to take a walk in the hallways. She was aware it was well past curfew but figured she could get away with it because she was a newer student.
It was kind of weird seeing the hallways empty. Usually she made herself miserable trying not to brush shoulders with anyone. It was like getting caught in a stampede. The body odor resonating in the air from the teenagers made it unbearable.
As a kid she struggled with her sleeping habits but it wasn't until recently that the effects weighed down on her. The unrest from the last couple of nights had come due to some...stressful encounters with her Professor. She really wanted a quiet place to forget about it all for a while. Maybe it'd help her sleep better.
There was rumors about a place in the school. A dorm of necessities or something. She figured it was the closest she'd get to getting some alone time around here.
The only problem was she had no idea where it was.
She tried to exit the Ravenclaw tower as quickly as possible to avoid getting spotted by a professor. From there she headed to the astronomy tower. She assumed it would be the best place to search.
If she didn't find the room she could still hang out past the staircase. A place she'd never been caught before.
She looked up from the bottom of the staircase letting out a sigh.
This is tiring. The plan was starting to be a real drag.
She shook her head dismissing the thoughts of turning back and began up the staircase.
And she managed to get halfway up before heading the rapid footsteps of someone behind her. Her whole body froze, suddenly looking around for an escape.
She ducked behind two pillars at the turn of the staircase. She figured it was a teacher on hallway duty.
It was hard to control her breaths. She had just booked it up half a flight of stairs. They came out loud and heavy. She slaps her hand over her mouth.
She was going to get caught right now if she didn't do any thing."Who is there?"
Shit. And out of all the teachers that could catch her it had to be him. Of course. Why would it not be?
She needs a way out. And fast.
Her hands brush against the brick walls of the staircase as she leans to peer down the staircase.
She thought she'd last longer detention-wise.
Her eyes dart away when something moves under her fingertips. She jumps letting out a yelp in surprise. Her eyes go wide covering her mouth again regretfully.
"I know you're there" a deep voice comes from a few feet away.
She looks around quickly. What was that?
Is something moving?
She shuffled around frantically hoping a last minute escape or something revealed itself. She was supposed to be a witch now shouldn't that help her out of this a bit?
He's going to catch her.
She was panicking now. It wasn't until she paced the third time that something moved again. A door began appear on the empty wall.
Slowly
Too slow
She looks back to the direction of the footsteps before freaking out and prying the door open. Just as a sliver of space appears she forces herself through and pushes the door closed with an amount of strength that realistically didn't help the process.
