Effulgence: the quality of being bright and sending out rays of light
"Kook, you look wonderful," I stated the second the front door was opened.
His cheeks turned red as he smiled. "You as well, Tae. Shall we get going?"
"We shall! Our reservation is soon."
Jungkook chuckled, getting into the passenger seat. I shut the door behind him before walking around the car to climb into the driver's seat.
"So if we have reservations, should I assume it's a nice dinner at a restaurant somewhere?"
I pressed my lips together and merely shook my head as I turned on the car and pulled out into the street.
Jungkook continued trying to figure out where our reservations were to during the entire car ride, making me laugh constantly at his wild ideas and questions to himself.
"Do horseback riding lessons require reservations? Fuck, am I overdressed? I don't like the smell of horses, but I guess I'm okay with giving it a shot." Jungkook rambled, babbling on and on until I put a hand on his thigh and gave it a squeeze.
"We're one minute away and then you'll see."
"Oh... okay! This doesn't look like a place for horses to stay."
I laughed, pulling into the empty parking lot. "We are not riding horses, Kookie."
Jungkook exhaled. "Thank God because horses scare me a little."
I climbed out of the car, walking quickly around the vehicle to open the door for Jungkook before making sure the car was securely locked.
I smiled, interlocking our hands as he examined the building. As we approached, his lips turned upwards in a grin.
"The Planetarium?"
I nodded. "The Planetarium for my Stargazer."
Roll credits, bitches!
"I love it! Thanks, Tae!"
"Just you wait, Kookie."
We entered the Planetarium lobby, immediately being surrounded by cool pictures of stars and models of planets and meteors.
I lead him through the doors into the theater, watching as his smile grew wider.
"You did this for me?" He asked as he turned and faced me, doe eyes sparkling in the dim lighting.
I booped his nose with a finger, hearing him giggle. "Of course I did. Now, let's go before the fruit gets too warm!"
I guided him to the blanket, sitting down, careful of the picnic basket in the center of the blanket. I helped him sit next to me before opening the basket. Jungkook gasped quietly at the sight of a bottle of champagne. He grabbed it out of the basket, followed by the two champagne flukes next to it.
"You thought of everything!" He exclaimed, popping the cork and pouring the sparkling liquid into the glasses, handing one to me.
I chuckled, pulling out the rest of the basket's contents, which consisted of fresh fruit, sandwiches, and a slice of red velvet cake for each of us.
I grabbed a grape, popping it into my mouth with a smile as I saw Jungkook's eyes staring at the picnic setup, doe eyes glowing. "Are you surprised"
"Very," Jungkook immediately responded, voice almost coming out as a breath. "This is amazing."
We remained in a comfortable silence as we enjoyed the food before setting the trash in the picnic basket and moving it to the side.
"You haven't seen the best part yet," I admitted, reaching into my pocket and grabbing the small remote, clicking the center button, smirking as the soft lighting in the room faded to black. Jungkook squeaked, reaching for my hand in the dark, making me leave the lights off for a few more seconds just to embrace the feeling.
I hit the button once more, watching as the ceiling turned into the beautiful galaxy, the gorgeous grays, blues, and browns blending together to create an infinite number of shades amongst the glowing stars.
Jungkook's eye's sparkled under the stars as a shooting star flew across the sky. I admired him for a few more seconds before laying down so my back was on the blanket. I pulled Jungkook down with me, making him yelp until I put an arm around his shoulder, forcing his head onto my chest.
The stars twinkled above us in silence while I took in Jungkook's small breaths, the way his nose would twitch every few minutes, and the way his fingers fidgeted against the fabric of my shirt.
I sighed. "I've always found a natural beauty amongst the stars. Humans haven't been able to reach up and destroy the galaxies surrounding or encapsulating us. They're untouched. Pure. Forgiving. They continue to provide us wishes as if we as a human race deserve to have good things happen to us. The number of times I would wish upon these forgiving stars growing up... They've always had a special spot in my heart."
Jungkook turned himself so he could look up at me through his lashes. "That's beautiful."
"So are you," I said, immediately chuckling. "You're my star, Jungkook."
I'm sure if there was more lighting, I would be able to see the light blush on Jungkook's cheeks. He turned back around so he could look at the stars once more. "I'm grateful to the stars for giving me you," he voiced quietly. "I used to wish upon the stars too. I wished for friendship, a companion, somebody to show me what it's like to be cared for. I know this is only our first date and we haven't known each other for that long, but I know what it is like to be around somebody who genuinely cares for me. They granted my wish."
"I'm glad they granted your wish also." I pecked the top of his head with a chuckle.
Jungkook released a heavy breath. "Do you ever wonder where your shooting stars ended up?"
I hummed, thinking over his question. "I hadn't really before, no, but now I'm curious."
We both giggled quietly before Jungkook faced me again, hand resting on my heart. "I think the star that granted my wish landed right here in your heart."
Words escaping me, I leaned forward, pressing our lips together, right as two shooting stars joined into one on the ceiling of the Planetarium.
