It had been 3 days since Joseph found out Mabel's father was the one who hit them. Three whole days and he hadn't said anything about it to her. During those three days she'd mention the crash and Joseph's body would tense up immediately. Mabel assumed this was just his guilt and was completely oblivious to the information Joe was withholding from her.

Today Mabel was finally being discharged from the hospital, she'd spent the three days complaining all she wanted was to sleep in her own bed. The doctors were reluctant to allow her to return home, they were calling it a medical mystery as to how she magically came round after showing no signs of wakening. However stubborn Mabel had persisted for the 3 days that she was, in fact completely fine and that her pain from her broken ribs was only a 3 out of 10 and only when she laughed or sneezed. Joe reassured the girl that they just simply wanted to make sure she was definitely okay before letting her go. Mabel being Mabel argued that it was totally just so she couldn't sue their asses if anything went wrong. The doctors eventually reluctantly sighed her discharge papers and Mabel was now happily sat on the bed waiting for them to hand them over.

With Mabel's legs dangling from the bed she stared at her feet wondering how on earth she was supposed to bend practically in half, with 4 broken ribs to put her shoes on. Joe watched Mabel stuck in her thoughts and looked over to see she was glancing between her feet and her shoes, he knew exactly what she was doing. Delaying putting her shoes on until the doctors left so she didn't wince and make them change their minds about discharging her.

Joe got up from the chair and kneeled down in front of her. Mabel glancing down at him as he was picking up her converse and untying the laces. She smiled widely at the fact he'd taken the time to notice her dilemma and step in to help. Joe carefully slipped her first shoe on adjusting it so that it was comfortable and tied the lace. He picked up the second one and did the same again before patting Mabel's knee signalling he was done. Mabel longed for his touch to return, missing her skin burning with lust underneath his touch.

Joe noticed Mabel's expression and rolled his eyes. He couldn't believe that right now her mind was on sex of all things. They'd just been in a crash, she nearly died and all she could think about was sex. He placed a soft kiss on her lips and she sighed in desperation at the feeling. The doctor awkwardly coughed breaking the two apart as he handed the discharge papers over.

"Well Miss Mae you are all signed out, now please remember to call us immediately if any signs of headaches/dizziness or blurry vision appear. Remember to take your pain relief every 4 hours if required for your ribs. Keep your water intake elevated and no, I repeat, no excessive exercise for another 3 weeks. Allow your ribs to heal."

Mabel smiled grabbing the discharge papers and sliding herself from the hospital bed she'd been glued to for over a week. She thanked the doctor and he left the pair to grab Mabel's bags now they were good to go. Joe grabbed all of the bags telling Mabel she was not to bother attempting to lift any of them. Mabel rolled her eyes at his protectiveness and made her way out of the room and down the hall.

Joe tensed as they walked past 305 and Mabel saw him do this and decided to ask what's wrong.

"305 is where they're keeping the man who crashed into us" Joe bluntly said walking ahead of Mabel. Mabel sped up to reach him.

"I thought they were keeping that information confidential?" She asked.

"They were but i overhead some nurses gossiping about him being in that room"

"Oh. Did you hear a name?" She asked softly. Mabel was dying to know who hit them that night and no one could tell them anything. Joe got even more tense and stopped walking. He took a deep breath and turned to the side to face Mabel.
