"Mabel love? Are you okay, you seem distracted?" Joe asked her. Mabel shook her head muttering she was just tired. Joe smiled softly at her and returned to making their lunch.

She wasn't completely lying, she was definitely tired because her sleep last night was awful. She'd spent half the night awake absolutely terrified and the other half in broken sleep having dreams about everything that could go wrong if she was pregnant. Mabel was pretty sure she didn't want children for at least another few years, she wasn't sure about Joe's feelings and she wasn't sure if she should tell him or not.

Joe watched Mabel trace around in her thoughts and placed her lunch in front of her. He watched as she picked at the salad in front of her with an uninterested look. He sighed at sat beside her.

"Mabel" he said sternly. She whipped her eyes to meet his and he saw her eyes dull which always means something is wrong.

"I'm fine" she fake smiled. Joe placed his hand on her cheek and let his thumb lightly rub it.

"You are clearly not, your eyes aren't bright like usual."

"My what?" She questioned.

"Your eyes, when you're sad or worried they dull down from being bright green to simply, green." Joe mumbled running his thumb along her lip.

Mabel stared at him for a moment and placed a kiss on his lips. Joe hand traveled from her face to the back of her neck, tugging it slightly in an attempt at getting her closer, because even though they were pressed up against each other, he never felt it was enough.

Mabel's hand gripped the back of Joe's neck as she tangled her fingers in his hair. She pulled away for a breath and lay her nose against Joe's sighing.

"We should go to the store today" she breathed.

Joe nodded and placed his lips on Mabel's again before pulling away completely.

"Eat your lunch first Mabel, you barely touched your breakfast. Then we'll head out" he muttered squeezing her thigh. Mabel knew he was right and quickly ate her lunch and headed into the bathroom to brush her teeth before heading out. As she was brushing her teeth she turned sideways and looked in the mirror. She pushed her stomach out to see what she could look like pregnant and laughed before relaxing it again and turning forward. Mabel wasn't sure why she did this, and was blissfully unaware Joe had watched her do it with confusion on his face. He walked to the bathroom and wrapped his arms around her waist, his hands resting on her stomach. Mabel looked at their reflection in the mirror and sighed before putting her toothbrush down and turning to Joe.

"Are you going to tell me what's wrong Mabel?" Joe pleaded. "I saw you in the mirror before I came in, if it's how you look there's nothing wrong with it, you're incredible." He muttered before kissing her lips softly. Mabel pulled away and groaned as she nuzzled her head into his chest and mumbled something.

"Mabel I can't hear you" Joe chuckled.

Mabel repeated herself louder, her words still muffled by his chest. Joe placed his hands on her shoulders and pushed her back slightly so she was now looking up at him.

"I was seeing what I'd look like pregnant" she answered embarrassed. Joe chuckled at her and moved his hands from her shoulders to her face.

"What possessed you to do that Mabel Mae?" He asked. She shrugged still not prepared to tell him about her being late.

She looked at Joe softly and asked him when he'd ideally like to have kids.

"Oh not for another few years" he muttered. "I love you, and I know I can't wait to get you pregnant some day, but that day will not be any time soon I can assure you- so don't worry about it" he chuckled placing a kiss on her lips and walking out of the bathroom.
