After her grandmother died, there was as if a hole created in her heart.
Living between the people felt so empty. She felt like running away from everything and everyone in this world and cower alone at the corner, crying to ease the pain.
Kairi was never a good child. She chose a work her grandmother dislike the most. She went hanging out with her friends late at night, knowing her grandma would wait for her to come home.
Before the war, the financial situation of her family was getting worse and she was ready to do anything to overcome that.
Of course, her grandma oppose greatly.
"Find a more decent job ! Just because you have what you have to do, doesn't mean it has to be that way. Can you listen to your grandma for once ?!"
She glared at her hunched grandma, thinking she would never understand how bad the situation was.
Well, she knew one thing, that her grandmother would beg her old superior for help with the money again. That person helped her unwillingly just because she was old. Kairi knew damn well that old man dislikes her, and saw her as a slut.
There would be no way in hell she would fall to her knees, begging from someone.
"Why, grandma, you want to do it yourself ?" Kairi smirked as she sarcastically said that to her grandma. The old lady was fuming, cleaning the table as if she was trashing it.
"So... that what it is about. I guess it's better if I die, so you don't have to worry about this annoying grandmother of yours and find a decent job for yourself and only yourself."
Kairi was getting annoyed, her face tightened at the mention of her death.
"If you want to die so bad, then go die !"
It was a quiet few days after leaving on such a bad note of her last quarrel with her grandmother. She rejected the job and did a side job that she did not come home until dusk for a few days.
It at least can pay for the rent for the month and treat her grandma to some expensive dinner once in a while.
Until...
"Grandma went out of village ?!" Kairi exclaimed hearing that from her neighbour.
She quickly getting prepared to go outside to find for her.
A war was going on outside. If she wanted to go outside, it should be in a group with some ninjas escort even. She went out alone, anything could happen.
But, she was just leaving through the gate when a friend of hers, a Kirigakure ninja landed in front of her with someone in his arms.
His chest went up and down, evidently he was rushing here. His eyes widened, and it mirrored on Kairi as even her heart palpitating as well.
"K-Kairi..."
She fell to her knees next to the corpse of her grandma. Tears fell down like rain onto her cheeks, staring at the motionless grandma. There was a huge wound on her chest to her abdomen, a wound made by a sword.
"No, no, grandma, no way..."
Kairi clenched her old dress, dress she wore three times a week to save money, the dress she gift it from her first paycheck. It was just a secondhand dress, but she was so happy.
