I stood the the doorway to the dressing cabin and shook my head at Greyson. He looked from side to side at weird women who gave him an even weirder look. I told him he could stay at the entrance just as Simon once had, but he claimed to be more of a man. Now that I stared at this big and powerful wolverine, he didn't seem quite as a beast. He was still large though, with broad shoulders and toned body, plus add a little werewolf height to it, and you've got yourself a handsome Hulk.
"Greyson, go wait at the entrance. I'll call you when I need to pay," I told him for the hundredth time. He hesitated, almost thinking about really going, but then he straightened his back.
"I'm staying," he stated and I sighed, hanging my head.
"Alright. I'm just gonna try these on and then we can go," I told him, nodding my head back at the chosen products. Suddenly his eyes lit up.
"Can I see?"
I chuckled and shook my head. "I'd rather let the cashier see," I said and instantly he looked back, tensing when he saw that the cashier was a man. I instantly regretted saying what I did, because I hadn't seen it was actually a man. I could see Greyson's back tensing and I basically leaped out of the dressing cubicle, jumping in front of him. Greyson's angry eyes were averted behind me.
"Okay, not that cashier. Sorry, I hadn't noticed who it was," I apologized and Greyson looked back at me.
"Go change," he merely said. I bit my lip and headed towards the cubicle again. After trying on multiple sexy products from Victoria's Secret, I finally exited. At first I couldn't see Greyson but then, from afar, he headed towards me in a much better mood that he had been when I last saw him.
"Hey, babe. Which did you choose?" He asked and I was momentarily stunned from how he had called me, before I fiddled with the objects in my hand.
"Uhm, well I tried them on almost all of them fit," I stated and placed the ones that didn't fit on a bar under the sign of "Maybe next ones will fit better..."
"Good, we'll take them all then," Greyson grinned and placed his hand on the small of my back, leading me forward towards the cash register. There was a pretty blonde behind the register now and I frowned. Maybe that's why Greyson was so cheerful when coming to me? The man left. The blonde was looking rather pale and stared at Greyson with a look that didn't bother me yet felt weird. She seemed to be afraid of him. And not just afraid, but utterly terrified.
Greyson grabbed my lingerie and handed it to the cashier, who quickly scanned them and with shaky hands began putting things in a plastic bag. Greyson payed for the purchase, while I stared at the woman with worry. Greyson finished and took my hand to lead me away, but, ignoring the sparks his touch left me with, I pulled my hand free, looking at the woman.
"Excuse me, are you alright?" I asked and the blonde's fearful eyes raised to me.
"She's fine," Greyson insisted and I threw him a glare.
"I want to hear it from her."
The blonde's wide eyes switched from me to Greyson and then she dropped her head, before looking back at me. "Be careful," she whispered, as if hoping no one but me heard.
I frowned and tilted my head to the side in confusion, but she looked like she wasn't going to say anything else. "Thank you," I said simply, before Greyson began dragging me away. I clutched the plastic bag in my hand tightly, walking after him. I didn't notice a crowd on the first floor until we were on an escalator going down. I leaned closer to the edge to inspect.
"What's going on there?" I asked Greyson and he just looked at the crowd grimly.
"Maybe some accident. Let's just go, the car will be here soon."
As soon as we hit floor, I headed off towards the crowd despite Greyson's words. Something was drawing there and maybe it was the tension or the smell of blood in the air that had even my wolf jumpy. And she was normally the one to keep a clear head and stay calm.
I dove into the crowd, but Greyson grabbed my hand and pulled me back. "Katja, we need to go," he insisted.
"Just a quick look. I want to know," I declared and he groaned, but let go of my hand and he stood back as I trudged forward. Somewhere around I heard silent whispers.
"I just saw him jump, nothing more."
"He looked so terrified and miserable."
"I hope he recovers. He's too young to end his life like this."
I peeked over one of the woman's shoulders and gasped. Hovering above an injured body were medics, but the man everyone spoke of I recognized by his uniform. Only one thing came to my mind.
Don't you dare confront him like this, my wolf warned me, but I had to. I returned to where Greyson was standing right outside the circle of people surrounding the poor man.
"Did you do this?" I demanded and he narrowed his eyes.
"No, I did not. How would you think I did it? You heard everyone, the man jumped," he said and rolled his eyes. They really had said they saw him jump on his own.
Now you've upset him! My wolf claimed angrily and I sighed. "Sorry, I just... You seemed cheerful when I saw you after I had tried on the lingerie," I muttered and stared at my shoes in embarrassment. He grabbed my chin and forced me to look at him.
"So you thought I was some sadist, enjoying another man's misery?" My eyes widened and I shook my head no.
"No, I'm sorry, of course not," I apologized again and he pressed his lips tenderly against my forehead.
"Let's go, Katja. The car really is up at the entrance already."
