"𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐀𝐑𝐄 𝐆𝐎𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐓𝐎 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐏𝐈𝐂𝐍𝐈𝐂 and that is final."
"mom-"
Amelie's mom sighed before continuing, "Please just do this for me. All I want is to spend time with my precious little girl on the beach. Plus you'll meet kids your age too"
"but-"
"no buts, you're going."

Amelie's parents were considered one of the more wealthier families in Cousins. They owned a beach house in the town, visiting it every summer.
Her father, Ryan White, was an entertainment lawyer. He represented athletes, artists, musicians, and actors at court. Along the way, he managed to build strong connections with some of the well known celebrities he has helped.
Her mother, Charlotte White, was a successful journalist at the New York Times. During her college years, Charlotte modeled for several clothing lines. She adored her daughter to no end. In her eyes, Amelie was the world and her only love.
Charlotte and her daughter always had a tight bond and it grew even stronger when Ryan left for work trips.
The two loved spending time in the ocean and swimming. Often, Charlotte would take her daughter out to the ocean on mini foam-surfboards. Amelie preferred laying on her back and floating on the board in the shallow end rather than actually listening to her mother teach surfing.

As the mother-daughter duo walked down the steps to get on the beach, they approached the afternoon picnic with several other families. Many of them too, stayed at Cousins most summers.
There was a large gazebo with white picnic lights, a bonfire, and a tiki bar. After searching for a bit, her mom quickly found the pair she was looking for.
"Susannah! Laurel! Look at you, getting prettier by the day darlings" Charlotte laughed, side hugging the blonde woman with one arm and holding her daughters hand with the other. "oh please Lola, I'm not the one who modeled for Victoria's Secret"
"Oh my goodness, and you must be Amelie, your mother told me lots about how much you love collecting sea shells and eating chocolate chip pancakes" she lightly chuckled as she crouched down to hug the girl. The woman's smile grew even more when the little girl faintly hugged back then quickly hid behind her mom. It immediately reminded her of her older son.
"Lia dear, you haven't met Susannah's kids yet, have you?" Charlotte asked while gently pushing her daughter towards Susannah and Laurel. In response Amelie shook her head with the quick whisper of no.
