Somewhere in a dark, underground facility stood a tall vampire. He had long, white hair and golden eyes, and was dressed in white, elegant robes. The vampire was overseeing his minions working on their various tasks. Sounds of machinery and humming filled the room, the humming coming from one of the workers. Though, all the sounds were blocked by the vampire. He was too busy thinking, biting his nails at the thought of the one thing he desired; the one person that was taken from him. His son.

When the tragedy happened, all the vampire could do was lash out. A lot of his workers died at his hands; wasted blood, he thought. Normally, a person would feel bad for mindlessly killing people who looked up to them, but he was a vampire. Feelings didn't usually come with being an immortal being. The only thing, the only person he cared about was his beloved son, and what was supposed to be his personal bodyguard, but they both were taken before he could finish with their awakening.

At the sound of a cough, the vampire turned around and faced the person that wanted his attention. The person was short with long, purple hair and red eyes. They were the vampire's most trusted minion and the most loyal one.

"What?" The vampire asked with a sigh.

After a tense moment, the minion finally answered, "We found him. We found your son."

"There is no way I'm letting a blood-sucker sleep in my bed!" Yuu yelled and immediately got hit in the head afterward. Dinner just ended and he was standing in one of the hallways with his father discussing the sleeping arrangement for Prince Mikaela, who was apparently going to spend the night with the royal human family as a sign of trust between the two species. Vampires don't sleep so Yuu didn't see why the other had to sleep with him.

"Shut up, you idiot! The vampires can hear you!" Guren yelled in return, his usual frown on his face. "Prince Mikaela will be sleeping in your room and that's final!"

"But why?! Vampires don't sleep!"

"It's to show that we trust them not to do anything. The Queen told me that the prince wants the war to end as well, more than the Queen does, so he's not going to do anything to you in your sleep."

Yuu crossed his arms and glared at his father. "I don't like this." He said, surprisingly opening up and speaking his true feelings. At this, Guren's expression softened a bit before lightly patting his son's shoulder.

"I know, and I don't like forcing you to do this, but this is the only peaceful option. This war had reigned on for far too long and without this arrangement, it will continue forever until all of humanity is wiped out," The King removed his hand and slightly looked around the hallway. "I'm not saying that you have to be buddy-buddy with him, but at least act civilized, or else this whole thing will never work out. Understood?"

He understood where his father was coming from, he really did, but that didn't stop Yuu from wanting to act out and ruin the arrangement, but at last, he couldn't, or more deaths would occur and it would be his fault. It just wasn't fair. Yuu didn't see why he had to be the one to marry the vampire prince. Shinoa was technically part of the family, so why couldn't she? Maybe it was because Mahiru and Guren never actually got married and therefore, Shinoa was technically not even related to the royal family?

"Understood," Yuu mumbled, almost forgetting to answer his father. When his father sighed a breath of relief, they walked toward the prince's room to see a vampire bodyguard chatting with the human one that was posted outside of the bedroom. Crowley, if Yuu recalled correctly, was talking about books with Goshi, one of the highest ranked guards in the kingdom and personal friend of the King. When the two noticed Guren and Yuu, they acknowledged them.
