Third POV

Four girls were sitting in a room, quietly studying for an upcoming exam. One of the girls, who had blonde, straight hair reaching down a bit further than her shoulders was reading an exercise book, a look of deep concentration on her face. She looked up with bright blue eyes and asked:

"So... There are three types of rock, igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary, right?. When no one made an effort to reply so she snapped "Is anyone going to answer me?! Huh? Mayumi!?"

Mayumi, a girl with long, dark, curly hair was clicking busily on her laptop and monotonously answered, "Yup, 100% accurate, Shiori" before quietly (to the point that no one could hear) sadistically giggling to herself, probably something she was watching on the computer.

A soft thump was heard as a shorter girl rolled off the sofa. Her short, blonde hair was a complete mess and a bit of drool was snailing it's way down her chin. "What the hell!? You frickin' woke me up, I swear I'll murder you. I want my beauty sleep. Not that I need it." She slurred, grinning.

The fourth girl, Emiko, who had previously been on her phone, looked up while brushing some of her darker blonde, shoulder length semi-wavy hair out of her face and replied sassily, "You're right Seiko, you don't need it, because you'd need a miracle to fix that face!"

The whole room was filled with laughter; the loudest came from Emiko and Seiko, while Shiori mildly laughed and Mayumi calmly smiled. Seiko playfully punched her using her amputated hand. She had woken up without it when she was 7 years, with no memories. That's when the others found her.

"We probably sound like crazy psychopaths right now!" said Seiko between loud outbursts of laughter.

The four girls had always been the best of friends, even though their relationship may seem a little strange to you at the first glance. They trusted each other with their lives and always had a lot of fun together, after each of them had experienced their childhood trauma. Not to mention, all of them were fans of the famous anime show, Naruto, especially Mayumi. She was the otaku of the group- watching a whole variety of them, from violent and gory to sappy romance.

Shiori opened her mouth; about to ask another question when suddenly the lights flickered and went out.

Seiko's POV

"What...?" I said, "Why would the lights be flashing? The weather wasn't stormy or anything..." I could faintly see Mayumi nodding behind my glasses.

The lights flashed on again.

And off.

I felt a small fear building up in my stomach, but pushed it aside. I looked at everyone in the room. Mayumi stayed calm as usual, Shiori had panic plastered onto her face while Emiko creepily grinned. She must be up to something.

"We should go check on the electricity box, you coming Mayumi?" asked Shiori. Mayumi nodded and heaved herself up, only to be pulled back down by Emiko.

"NO! This is the perfect time to be telling ghost stories," she said, attempting, but failing at using a deep and creepy voice.

"Emiko-chan, this is not the time for such ridiculous play. We should find the source of the problem," Shiori lectured, trying to pry Mayumi's arm away from her grasp.

"She's right. Come on. We should all go," I said. "Just in case there's something out there you know? Sheesh, come on Emiko! Get your lazy ass off the couch already"

She lazily got up and we exited the living room. We followed the hallway until we got to the stairs, which we climbed, hands outstretched in the darkness. I heard a noise, too muffled to make out from the other side of the hallway. I grabbed Emiko's arm as we made our way up the stairs. She looked at me with an annoyed expression.

"What? It's scary!" I defended myself, as we continued silently up the stairs.

We reached the second floor. To our right a door was opened and I saw something move in the darkness. Holy shit. I can admit that I was scared enough to poop my pants. We entered the dark room, unsure of where we were going.

Suddenly, the lights switched on, blinding us all, and forcing me to shut my eyes tight together.

"It's time for you little girls to come with Tobi-kun!"

I opened my eyes, shocked with what I heard. An orange mask with a swirly black pattern on was popped on top of a long cloak, standing behind us, by the door. This had to be a joke. Right? So, I laughed. Hysterically.

Then, it went dark.
