Amelia came to in a cell. She immediately panicked. All those years of careful planning, for what? She was done. Locked up. Good as a bird without wings. Not that she had ever been free. The events of the day flooded back to her, and she remembered the paws. What had that guard called her? A shifter?
The room door opened, interrupting her train of thoughts. A man with dark black hair, and skin walked in, looking positively 𝘳𝘦𝘨𝘢𝘭 in his white and gold suit. His expression was pleased, and he had a shiny black box. Wordlessly, he placed it in front of me. I glanced at him, but he just looked at me patiently. Inside the box was a uniform. The shirt and pants were white, and the jacket was a dull gray. There were also socks, hair-ties and brushes. All grey. I looked back up at him, and he smiled. "Amelia, do you know why you are here?" he asked. I shook my head. "I think it might be because I attempted theft?" "Ha! No, the reality is that was a very minor offense, considering nothing was taken. You are here because you are a 𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘳, and you need a proper education before you join the president's secret service." "WHAT?!" I yelled, not caring that this man was most definitely more important than I knew. "He has been looking for a Lynx for years." the man responded, unfazed. "I don't know who- what you think I am, but I promise you have the wrong person!" Amelia responded. "2 guards saw you shift. Get changed. You leave in 30 minutes. Then he casually strolled out, as if he didn't just drop a nuclear bomb on my life. I changed, able to do my hair for the first time in ages.
The man in the gold suit
| or Goldie as I had decided to call him, never came back. 2 guards, not the ones I had seen earlier, did. They put on handcuffs, and a shock collar. Then, each one clutching one of my arms, they led me out of the room. I decided not to resist, and focused on not tripping. I had most definitely hurt my left ankle earlier. I just hoped it was not broken. They led me outside the prison, and into a car. I had never been in a car, and found the ride very interesting, although the bumps on the road made me want to puke. It was one of those cars with the shield between the passenger and driver, and so I couldn't see the person who might be plotting my doom. When the car finally stopped, the door swung open. I limped out, and looked around. This was one of those hardcore elite schools, where the kids are raised to be diplomats, and scientists, and-well you get the idea. A guard came up to me, and removed my cuffs. I realized I could run, right now. Then the logical part of my brain kicked in. First off, the shock collar was still on. Second, how would I run with this ankle? Third, and finally... where would I go? I had no idea where I was. Taking a deep breath in, I let the guard lead me into the academy, and into my future.
