Amelia opened the door to her new home. It was a small shared dorm. The room was divided with masking tape. Her roommate had a thing for forensic science, coffee, and music. She also seemed to love wolves. Amelia sat on her bed, lost in thought. She realized that crazy as it was, this was her life now. She lay on her back, staring at the ceiling. A guard came by, with a backpack full of her old stuff. She had no use for any of it, but was glad for it either way. However they had gotten it... She felt hungry, and all of a sudden realized she had skipped lunch and dinner. Amelia wandered out of her room, and to the infirmary. Maybe Doc had something to eat. She wandered over there, and saw he was helping a boy about her age, taking his temperature. "Hey Amelia! What can I do for you?" "Umm... I don't know where to get food from..." "Oh, well dinner is over, but you can grab something from my stash. Just don't eat too much junk." Amelia took an apple, just to be safe. She was thinking about staying in the infirmary to eat but decided to leave when she heard retching noises.

When she got back to the dorm, her roommate was there. She was wearing a different uniform, a dark black shirt, jeans, and bright red jacket. One of her ears was torn, and a long scar cut across the bridge of her nose and middle of her face. Her eyes were dark brown, almost black. Her hair was black, frisky, and cut short, with a streak of red. She wore headphones around her neck, and combat boots. ...She was the kind of person, thought Amelia who blasted rock music while she did anything even a little boring. "Hi!" said Amelia. The girl barley glanced in her direction. "Hey." "My name is Amelia!" "Okay." Wow, thought Amelia. It's like talking to a wall. A very cool wall, but the shifter wanted nothing to do with her. "Soooo... what do you guys do for fun around here?" The girl shrugged, "Same shit."

Amelia had long given up on trying to start a conversation. She crashed into her bed, not expecting to sleep a wink. She was so tired that she was out cold. And she fell asleep, minutes before her roomate left through the window.
