"Save us, Chaser...!"
"We need your help, Chaser!"
"Chaser, our hero...come forth!"
My people were calling to me. I could not resist their voices as the murmurs swelled to cries and chants. This force opened my eyes and awakened my powers. I was humanity's hero, and when their voices beckoned to me, I had to obey them at once. It wasn't my choice; it was my destiny. I readied myself quickly, buttoning on my navy dark blue military jacket over my white shirt, slid my white thigh-high boots over my white pants, and threw on my trademark white cloak. With the pleas ringing in my ears, I raced towards them.
Clouds slid in and out of the sun, illuminating the world with yellow one moment, shading it with blue the next. The clouds themselves were great gray-and-white mountains of rocks and snow. The air was surprisingly warm for the autumn morning, but there was still a pleasant coolness in the air, only altered by the ever-changing light and dark, golden-sun and shadow-blue.
My younger brother Reese would be fine on his own, staying home all day. I didn't like to leave him alone, but even if I wanted to go back, I couldn't. A force drove me to run and run. It overtook my body and mind and I moved along with it, unable to stop. Instead of fighting this energy, I let myself slide into it and let it guide me.
I ran through the suburbs, the parks, the roads, the stretches of fields and small hiking woods, using a variety of my powers to travel faster. Adrenaline built into energy which became my power. I shapeshifted into a peregrine falcon and flew through the open air. I returned to my original form and used my earth powers to bend trees away for me, part bushes and branches to make way for me. I teleported past a manmade lake that separated the urban district from suburbia. I could have run across the whole world with all my different powers, but I had an urgent objective summoning me.
I reached a city called Western City. It was famous for having the highest building in the world called Sky High. It stretched up into the clouds, practically into the stratosphere with over one thousand floors. It was a pentagon green building with light blue windows. As I stared from the overhanging hill I was standing on, I searched for him.
Him, my mortal enemy, the one I was connected to. The one who I'd always been fighting for almost as far back as I could remember. I sensed he was performing one of his evil deeds. A distant figure was leaping from building to building, blasting elemental powers from his hands. I watched as ice froze people in place. Flames crackled in the skyscrapers' windows, dark gray smoke bruising from the blood-red fire. The figure was moving quickly through the city, spreading chaos and agony with his multi powers. Bombs exploded, water surged and flooded, skulls as heavy as boulders slammed into cars and billboards.
Screams of terrified people reached my ears as I ran as fast as I could among them, taking caution and care not to harm anybody. I steadied a man falling, nudged a woman to her baby, and shook a dumbfounded man to his senses.
"Chaser! Chaser is here!" cried a young woman. "We're saved!"
"Help us, Chaser!" wailed another voice. "Save us from Usko!"
I paused briefly to raise my head and straighten my spine, letting all get a good view of me. I was rather small, both in weight and height, with the palest blue eyes, light peach skin, and longish, ruffled, spikey blond hair that tufted over my forehead in bangs, the left side even more so, so that it nearly covered my left eye.
"All hail Chaser! All hail Chaser! Glory to his name!" the crowd chanted, their eyes lighting with hope, relief, and joy as they crowded close to me, some already reaching out to touch me. I shook my head firmly. "Get to safety...you there, officers! I am trusting you to get these people away from the battlefield! I want you to minimize any possible causalities!"
