Chapter 2
Patton's Story

"I'm not really sure how to explain it without causing you more fear? I guess." Patton started clearly hesitant, though after sparing a quick glance towards Janus he mustered up enough courage to start explaining how he had died.

It was June 12th and my city was holding a pride parade! I had been super excited and basically begged three of my friends to come with me, their names were Alex, Skylar, and Joey. Seeing as I woke up early I had taken my time to choose what I was going to wear out. I ended up just wearing these black skinny jeans and a light blue t-shirt. At this point in time my hair was its natural blonde and it faded into a nice pastel blue.

I had started making pancakes and bacon for the four of us since the other three were coming to my house before the parade started. It was right after I had finished making everything when I heard my doorbell go off so I answered the door. I had to stop my cat from running outside with my foot while opening it though.

We just hung out until it was time to leave. Joey had just worn her basic outfit of a black and red plaid skirt and a black crop top with some chains and more jewelry, one of the pieces being a pan pride pin. Alew was wearing some black basketball shorts and a rainbow pride crop top. And Skylar was wearing blue jeans and a black shirt that said "Both? Both. Both is Good." going down, each line was a different color of the bi flag.

We all rode to a nearby park, close to where the parade started and Joey, who was driving as it was her car, parked. Before we could all actually join the parade we opened the trunk and grabbed each of our pride flags. Joey was a pansexual flag, Skylar had a bisexual flag, I had a gay pride flag (not the rainbow flag), and Alex had a non-binary pride flag.

It was around an hour into the parade when it finally happened. Someone, supposedly a drunk driver, drove straight into the parade, right were me and my friends were. It caused about 13 people to be harmed, and three to die... I was one of those three. The other two were somewhat strangers, but I remember their names since I had been talking to them. They were named Jaidynn and Ava. They were a beautiful couple and they had explained how they were both just about to graduate from college. Jaidynn was going on to graduate with an English major and Ava was going to graduate with a psychology major.

I remember being disappointed, in the afterlife, when I saw the two of them, though I am still glad that they were together, even after death. I know my friends were part of the ones that got injured, though the worst of it for my group, other than myself, was Skylar with a broken arm, most of the injuries were caused by other people falling on each other.

The cause of death for me was a broken rib, it had punctured my lung. Though I am happy that I was with my friends when I died. I got to be doing something I loved, and still love doing, I got to express myself and show pride for who I am.

"Patton... that's horrible." Thomas said, surprise evident on his face and sympathy clear in his voice. "Wait, why were you so ok with going to all those pride events then?"

"Well, like I said, I got to die while doing something I love! Plus I know that things like that won't always happen and I don't want to ruin things for everyone else." Patton explained, Virgil stood up and walked over to the side he saw as a father, leaning down the darker trait and giving the lighter one a hug.

Virgil wasn't huge on physical contact, but if it was for his Pop Star then he didn't care what it was he had to do. Though he would never admit this out loud.

"I suppose, once everyone calms down a bit, that I will go next." Logan ventured, gaining a nod from some.

Virgil ended up letting go of Patton, being replaced by Janus, to make everyone some tea, coffee, or hot chocolate. While he was in the kitchen he grabbed two packs of Oreos and two more packs of Chips Ahoy before walking back into the living room.

"Wait, Patton," Remus started a confused look plastered on his face. "You said you had a pet cat, aren't you allergic to cats?"

"Oh! It was a sphynx cat, y'know, the hairless, wrinkly ones? He was very sweet, I miss him..." Explained the father figure, looking down sadly.

"We could look into getting a pet for you if you would like, Patton." Janus suggested getting a few happy squeals in return.

After a few minutes Logan spoke up again, "Shall I begin now?" Everyone nodded in reply.
