Third POV:

Y/N opened his grimoire, "Ice Recovery Magic: Gentle Ice." Some ice appeared on the bodies of the injured in order to heal them. Most of the people seemed to flinch at the magic. It made sense, the man that had attacked them also used Ice Magic. Y/N watched as Asta and Magna began fighting off the attackers. One of the henchmen aimed an attack at the villagers. Y/N opened his grimoire again, "Ice Magic: Shatter Shards." Shards of ice appeared and launched at the attacker. He used his water magic to evade the attack, but some of them were redirected and hit his arm. This caused the man to loose concentration and fall. Y/N kept his back to the villagers. Since Asta and Magna were busy fighting against the man in charge, the other attackers were free to kill the defenseless villagers. He kept his grimoire open and reused the recovery spell. Since he used an attack spell, he had to stop the recovery spell. Y/N turned to Noelle, who was still watching. Since she didn't have the ability to control her magic, she wouldn't be much use in battle. Y/N said, "Lady Noelle, do you think you'd be able to on a broom and leave?" Noelle turned to him, "What? And leave you three?" Y/N nodded, "Yes. We need help to protect these people. Those guys have a lot of magic. Asta and I don't have any battle experience aside from the test, Magna doesn't have much magic, and you aren't able to control you're magic. If things go bad, all of us are going to die." Noelle looked at him. She understood what he was saying, but refused to leave.

Y/N continued to keep the attackers away from the villagers as Noelle attempted to attack. It seemed that she was about to leave, but when a young girl asked her to stay, Noelle activated a defense spell that covered all of the villagers and them. Y/N grinned, "Lady Noelle. Thank you very much." Noelle turned to him, "Now you understand how great I am." Y/N nodded, "Yes, as I expected." Now that they were all safe, Y/N could turn all his attention to healing the villagers and making sure that they were safe. With all his attention on the villagers, he didn't notice that Asta had been deeply injured by the man. Y/N yelled in surprise. The leader of the attackers began approaching the water barrier. Y/N knew that he would be able to freeze the water and get to them in a few seconds. He turned to prepare to fight again, but Asta got up and continued his fight. Magna had also regained the courage to fight and launched a fire spell. It missed the leader, but Asta deflected it back at the leader. It turned out that the fireball was actually part of a binding spell that scattered and captured all the attackers. The man was about to freeze the spell before Asta knocked him out. One of the attackers was able to escape using his escape magic. Noelle nagged Magna for being unable to stop the escapee. At that moment, Noelle' barrier fell. Magna nagged her back. Y/N smiled and attempted to head to Asta to heal his grave injuries, but the moment he stood up, he fell down and was knocked out.

Y/N groaned awake. He felt like he was on something warm. Once he opened his eyes, he saw that Asta was carrying him. He blushed slightly and jumped off. Asta turned to him, "Y/N. Glad you're okay." Y/N calmed down, "Yeah. What happened?" Asta began explaining, "Well, I got woke up by some dumb anti-bird that stole a stone from the villagers. Luckily, they decided to let us keep it. And when the attackers woke up, they used some weird magic thing to kill themselves." Y/n was shocked. It was surprising to hear that those three were so willing to kill themselves to avoid being detained. Asta said, "Hey, don't worry. It'll be fine. Only one of the villagers died. You managed to protect the rest of them and they're all better." Asta started to pat his friend's head. Y/N blushed, "Uh, thanks." "Hey, if you two love birds are done flirting, we need to get going." The two of them blushed deeply and turned to Magna. Y/N said, "Ok. Um, we weren't flirting. So, we can go now." Asta nodded, still red as a tomato, "Right. Let's go."
