{s} Middle school for me was slightly better than Elementary. I still was the shy girl who hated getting called on but now I had a friend. That friend was Julia of course as after she saved me in fourth grade we ran into each other later that week and quickly became friends. We didn't hangout that often as Julia hung out with the soccer team most of the time but once every other week I had a person to talk to at recess.
That was elementary, now since we both have phones we text each other every now and then. We talk about middle schooler stuff like Netflix shows, new Sanrio merch, and how dumb some of our classmates are. It was stupid but it was cute too. I enjoyed talking to her...She was cool. We got to spend lunch together every Thursday which was also pretty cool.
Unfortunately, I was kind of on edge on one of those Thursdays for two reasons. One, I didn't get to see Julia during lunch since she got detention for causing a ruckus in her math class. She said we could hangout after school to make up for it, which got me excited and nervous as we've never hung out after school before. The second reason was Landon was with me as I waited for Julia. I didn't want him there. I honestly kind of hated him.
He asked me out at the beginning of the school year and I turned him down of course as I didn't like boys. I didn't like bullies either and even if it was four years ago since me and Julia ran from him and his lackeys he will always be that elementary school bully in my eyes.
After I turned him down he stopped talking to me which was something I was happy about. This happiness only lasted for about half of the school year as ever since February began he tries to talk to me again. Now every time we got out of sixth period he'd try to walk with me to the bus stop since multiple buses went to that same stop. I didn't like confrontation especially when it came to an ex-bully who knows the bus I take home but I also hated spending the first twenty minutes of my time out of school with a dumb boy.
"Why weren't you with Julia during lunch? I thought you said you guys always hangout?" Landon asked as we stood on the blacktop.
Shit
I lied to Landon earlier this week when he asked if we could hangout during lunch. I said that I hangout with Julia during lunch which technically wasn't a lie as I hangout with her at lunch...just once a week.
"...She had detention today so she had lunch in Room 51."
"Well next time she gets it, let me know and we can hang."
I won't
"Detention hm. It's probably better that you're not seen with a problem child like that anyways." Landon sneered.
I felt myself get angry.
"Hey!" I exclaimed in an aggressive tone that made Landon jump.
"Sure she gets detention every now and then but for good reasons. That gives you no right to call her that. She's what every student athlete should want to be." I explained cooling off a little as I continued on. {s}
"Alright. Alright. I don't think I've seen you get angry before. It was kinda hot..."
Ew
I gave him a disgusted look and stayed silent. A couple minutes passed and the group of popular looking kids who were on the basketball court near us went back into the school.
Landon seemed to notice that we were alone and turned towards me. He inched closer.
"Did you see my text?" He asked in a different tone of voice.
I didn't even add your number in my phone after you forcefully gave it to me on the preface of "Let's help each other with work"
"No." I answered plainly.
