You've got a lot to learn

The ride home was uneventful. Talia asked Aj questions about her past hunts and missions.
"So have you ever just done kid stuff? Birthday parties, instrument lessons, stuff like that?" Talia asked eyes still on the road.

"No birthdays aren't really a celebrated time for me, I learned guitar from a book in the guild library, the guitar was my dad'a the only thing he left in his house when he left. And as for other kid stuff not really just training and hunting." Aj replied looking out the window.

"Why don't you celebrate your birthday, I know the guild celebrates birthdays even for the students of the academy." Talia asked stopping at the red light and looking over at Aj.

"They strengthen the seal on my demon half on my birthday... it's not the most fun ceremony so all I have to look forward to on my birthday are the letters my grandmother sends me and a gift from my father." Aj says till looking out the window

The car falls silent as Talia processes the information and before long they pull into the driveway. After going into the house Aj went to train and Mrs.Burns attended to the things she had intended to do that day. Aj went to the training room and worked out till Jack came in.

"Hey keep punching my bag like that and I'll need a new one soon" Jack said leaning against a support beam.

"Huh? Oh I'm sorry. Aj replied punching the bag softer

"You're fine I'm just messing with you. Hey kid I gotta question for you" Jack said waking over to a bench motioning for Aj to take a break and sit with him. Aj stops punching the bag and walks over to the bench and sits down.

"Aj what is your actual mission, it can't actually be to protect my daughter from a vampire that could barely keep herself to from being staked." Jack asks

"That is my mission as far as I know. Guild guardian Jojo came into my room briefed me on the mission and told me to pack up. I am to protect your daughter and blend in." Aj says

Jack searchs her eyes for any hint of deceitfulness, but he couldn't find any all he saw was a child who believed what she said. "Ok" he says and get up and says "Oh and Talia wants you to get cleaned up it's almost time for y'all to get Cal." And walks out.

Aj heads upstairs and gets cleaned up and presentable and meets a waiting Mrs.Burns.

"Alright we're going to get Calliope then we're going shopping because you need normal things." She said smiling.

We got to the school just before the last bell. Caliope got in the car
"Aj this is your schedule the principal gave it to me, you've been placed in almost all advanced classes. Also do you want tot sit up here you look kinda awkward in the backseat." Cal said handing me my schedule
"I'm good back here" I replied but she was probably right I do look kinda odd squished in the back of a mustang like this.
We went to Walmart to get school supplies and basic personal things. When we go to the check out line Mrs.Burns went for her wallet before I stopped her and handed her a note and a debit card.

She read the note out loud but quiet enough that no one else could here her "Jo this is for all purchases pertaining to Aj, when she's old enough give it to her to use as she pleases I'll be depositing 500 onto it weekly even if you don't use it, it'll be here.  Aamon" she looked shocked at first but nodded which I took as her saying she'd use it to purchase my new things.
After we left we went to an AT&T store to get a cellphone because in Cal's own words" what kind of teenager doesn't have a phone" I insisted I didn't need one but it was no use. Then we headed to the mall.

"Ok lets go to H&M first, then old navy, then Macy's and dtlr" Cal says looking around at the stores we could visit and dragging me by my hand.

She kept talking but I couldn't focus on what she was saying bc I was burning up and my heart was racing. All I could think about was what danger could be around. Before I could fully evaluate the threat we were at the first store.

"Ok we're going buy some basic stuff here" Cal said walking to the men's section."what do you like?"  Caliope asked looking through the clothes on the rack

"Black" I replied quickly

"Ummm no you just lost your clothing privileges" she say laughing a bit

"Ok how about I pick a couple of things, you pick a couple outfit and then we do a little fashion show of sorts" She said smiling at me as if it would convince me.

"Fine but I'm picking the final outfits" I say giving in.

She walks away with a mischievous grin on her face. As I look through the shirts I hear an employee walk up behind me.

"Do you need any help?" She says as I turn around to face her. She said smiling at me. Her heart rate excelrated as she said it, it was hard to ignore.

"Ummm...yeah I'm ok" I say as I back up to create some type of distance between us.

"Ok well let me know if you need help finding anything" she say while turning bright red like she had a fever. So I took a couple more steps back and turned around to walk off. I found a couple of outfits I liked mostly red, black and white shirts with graphics and black skinny jeans. I went and found Cal to see how here shopping was coming along. She had way more outfits than me and in basically every color she could find.

" I said black and you grabbed every other color available." I said looking at the clothes she picked up

"Hey hands off" She said slapping my hand away.

"Well I'm ready when you are" I replied rubbing my hand as if she had actually hurt me.

"Alright to the dressing room" Cal said as she handed me the clothes she picked and pushing me to the dressing rooms.

I get into the first outfit a grey shirt and ripped skinny jeans. And stepped out to where Mrs. Burns and Caliope were sitting.

"So what do you think" Mrs. Burns asks

"It's not black but I think I like it" I replied

"You look good but I gotta see the full outfit do a spin" Cal says doing a spin gesture. I obliged and did a lil spin while she laughed. "Ok next outfit please"
I walk back into the dressing rooms and put one of my outfits on a black shirt, jeans and a green flannel. I came back out

"Ok I like this one and its even got color. Cal said looking me over.

"Aww you look like a real kid" Mrs Burns said

We went on like this till we were out of outfits and went to check out.

"Did you end up finding everything ok?" the associate asks when we get to the desk.

"Umm yea I think." I replied not really paying attention as I try not to touch her or breath too much around her as she's obviously sick. Face red and heart rushing.

"Ok here's your receipt, have a good day." She say as we walk away.

"Oooohh" Caliope say nudging me with her shoulder as I get hand sanitizer on the way out.

"Don't ooohh y'all should be getting some too, that girl is sick and could potentially get you sick aswell" I say.

"Is that one of your powers you can tell when people are sick or something" Cal asked almost seriously

"No, but I can hear heart beats,her's was accshe was obviously flush, and her pupils were dilated. She's obviously sick" I explained

They looked at each other for a moment then started laughing

After composing herself again Mrs. Burns says" Oh baby that girl is not sick, while those can be symptoms of sickness she's not sick she thinks you're attractive and that's how the human body shows that."

"Oh well umm....noted" I said and we continued through the mall buying clothes and shoes.
