Part 16 - Wedding bells, not yet

Sidharth and Shehnaaz returned to Mumbai and they broke the news to family. Everyone was happy and congratulated them. Both the family's immediately got together to plan the functions.

Rita Maa: Sikh Shaadi Punjab mein karte hai and Hindu wedding and reception Mumbai mein. Aap log kya sochte hai?

Sana's Maa: Yeh bahut aacha hai but baaki ke functions Punjab mein hi karenge. Humare yahan Roka, engagement, haldi, sangeet and mehndi bhi hoti hai. Roka and engagement pehle hota hai

Neetu Di: Roka and engagement abhi kar dete hai. Baaki functions shaadi ke time. Pandit ji ne bola hai 2 month ke baad ka mahurat hai Shaadi ke liye.

They finally decided to have an engagement + Roka function in a week's time with only closed relatives and friends and then Shaadi after 2 months.

The entire household was busy in planning while our SIDNAAZ and Baaz away in their oblivion were busy chatting. SIDNAAZ were lying on bed in their blanket and Baaz in his while mimicking Sid on how he might break the news of marriage in media.

Sid: Chup kar Saale. Jija hu main tera.

Baaz: Lo ji, Kaun kahega itna bada Superstar ghar pe aise chaddi and tshirt mein baitha hoga. Main na Sidharth tujhe JIJA kya JIJA JI bolunga agar tu roz nahane lage.

Sid hits Baaz on lightly his head. 'Ábey yaar ek joke kitne saal tak chalayega'

Baaz: Sidharth to ghodi pe mat aana warna ghodi raste mein bolegi hatao iss 200 kilo ke danav ko main aur nahi chal paungi.

Sana and Sidharth were delighted to see their families. It was not just that they loved each other but even the families gelled so well that it looked everyone knew each other from ages.

Sidharth and Sana got busy with their shoots as they wanted to complete their projects before wedding. Sidharth received a call from Kaushal during one of his shoots.

Kaushal: Sid, Can we talk? Wanted to discuss about Sana.

Sid got worried, though they both talked regularly also Sid discussed about Sana's projects but Kaushal never called him to talk about Sana specifically.

Sid: Haan bol, kya hua? Sab theek hai?

Kaushal: I told you na, Sana had auditioned for a movie with Garth Davis. She is selected as lead but she is rejecting the offer coz your wedding is planned during the movie shoot. Sana ko itni aachi opportunity pata nahi kab milegi. If you think she should take the project, Ek tu baat karke dekh

Sid: Thanks Kaushal. Let me talk to her. I will let you know

Sid came back at night after his shoot. They both were lying on the bed and Sana was happily chirping about how she met with Manish Malhotra for her wedding attire. But Sidharth was not paying attention to her as he had been thinking about Sana offer for entire day.

Sana: Kya hai Sidharth, main apne lenge ki baat kar rahi hu tu pata nahi kahan khoya hua hai

Sid: Baby, should we postpone our wedding

Sana was shocked and hurt, she thought Sid is having cold feet.

Sana: Kyu, aisa kyu keh raha. Tujhe mujhse Shaadi nahi karni. She sat on the bed and looked straight at Sidharth with tears in her eyes. Sid facepalmed as Sana had again misunderstood the situation

Sid: Abey Gadhi, Kaushal ka phone aaya tha. Teri Hollywood movie ke liye, usne bola tune mana kiya Shaadi ke chakkar mein.

Sana cut him off: Mujhe shaadi karni hai tujhse. Mujhe tere se jyada kuch important nahi hai. Mere paas aur bhi movies hai. Ek nahi karungi to marr nahi jaungi. She said in one go with a cute pout on her lips. Sid adored her cute antics, he pulled her back to bed and started explaining her calmly.

Sid: Jaan, tere liye main aur humara relation bahut important hai but main kabhi nahi chahta ki wo tu khud se jyada important bana le. Aaj tujhe lag raha hai shaadi karni hai, uske aage kuch nahi hai. But samjh meri jaan, yeh sirf function hai 3 din ka. Uske liye tu jo reject karegi wo tera pura career change karega. Ye shaadi ka function will not change what we feel for each other, I told you, you are already my wife. Main kuch nahi kahunga agar tujhe ye movie hi nahi karni thi, but agar aachi lagi thi and tu shaadi ke liye chor rahi hai to mujhe aacha nahi lagega. I don't want you to take any decisions that you might regret later.

Sana was overwhelmed with emotions as she never thought Sid cared so much. She always thought she loved him more as she was the one who took more efforts in this relationship. But he was ready to postpone the wedding for her career was unimaginable for her as all the relatives were informed about the dates.

Sana: Baby, aise to hamesha kuch important rahega career mein karne ko. To hum hamesha postpone karte rahenge? Nahi naa, then why this time?

Sid: Baby, I know what you want to achieve in your career is not where you are right now. This movie will help you get there. Success sirf luck se nahi aati hai, jab opportunity aati hai tab grab karo warna kabhi successful nahi banoge. I was lucky to get a chance in my 40's, not everyone is that lucky. And promise iske baad mujhe Bond movie bhi mile; main shaadi postpone ki baad nahi karunga; chahe sherwani mein plane se latakna pade.

Sid finally convinced Shehnaaz to take up the project. He broke the news to family, they were disappointed first, but they agreed as everyone knew how important this movie was for Sana.

The news of Shehnaaz grabbing a Hollywood movie spread like a wild fire. The movie was on a punjabi girl who moved from her pind and made her mark in Australian fashion industry. The struggles she had due to her poor english and less exposure to world outside her pind. It was a role written for Shehnaaz, she was directors favorite for lead as she had her desi accent when speaking english.  

A lot of people congratulated her but there were few haters as well. They started trolling her for being selfish and postponing the wedding for movie. She kept quite and let haters do their job but this time Sidharth had decided to support her the way she had been supporting him. He broke the silence in interview with Karan on 'Koffee with Karan' show.
