⎯ "Have you ever heard of the Diwatas?" Armin began, pulling out a book he must've found in his parents' study, and settling it in front of both his friends, Eren and Mikasa.

He began flipping through the pages. Armin was a certified bookworm, always curious of everything and anything - may it be the histories of the titans, the secrets of the landscape outside of the walls that their kind has yet to unfold, or theories of how their ancestors even survived such a violent nature.

Eren and Mikasa mirrored a look of
bewilderment mixed with curiosity,

before diverting their gazes back to their friend, "No..?" Eren answered, more like a raise of question.

Mikasa leaned forward, her interest piqued, "What are they?"

"Well, it says here that..." Armin trailed off as he pointed his finger at the beginning words of the book that began to narrate what Armin mentioned as 'The Diwatas'.

"Many centuries ago, there lived the mythical creatures blessed by the divine beings themselves, as they were bestowed upon the power of the four elemental gems of Fire, Air, Water, and Earth.

Their lineage can be traced down through their ancestor, the first queen, and sang'gre, Cassiopeia who was the first bearer of the four elemental gems, gifted by the deities as their sworn duty to protect each race, from wars upon wars inflicted upon humanity.

They were said to be welded to great capabilities of sorcery and magic, their enemies feared them, as they were said to have a keen eye for the future, speaking in tongues of prophecies and curses, which would all come to pass.

Each of the Sang'gres including the Queen had a sworn responsibility to wield and guard the four elemental gems, and soon they were passed up from generation to generation.

Their ancestor, Cassiopeia ruled a magnificent reign lasting for a decade, before being bestowed the grace of being a blessed deity for her good deed and service to her people and other races.

Yet as the decades' pass, they start altering their ways. They turned into malevolent evil spirits as they turned away from the light and served the darkness. They used their ethereal beauty to appear innocent and would lure men with their eyes, pulling them into a trance and seducing them into a bewitching spell, like a temptress.

...They manipulated the titans, who were previously the protectors of humanity, to turn against the people they were supposed to defend. They made them do heartless and malicious deeds to eradicate all of humanity." Armin finished the tale's monologue as the look of uneasiness drew on his facial expression.

Mikasa glanced at the two, before shifting her eyes back to the book as she stared at the caricature of a Diwata that was illustrated in the book. She took note of Armin's expression, therefore asking, "Do you think they're real?"

Eren scoffed, leaning his back on the wall behind him, "As if," He answered, "There's no way that magic and deities exist. It looks like a children's book, and probably made up to scare the little ones."
