"So this place is like Hawkins but with monsters n shit?" Eddie asks from his spot on a rotted tree.

"Pretty much" Nancy sighs.

We both share a look then pass it on to Steve. He did not look good. His stomach was decorated with scratches and tears. "You don't think those basts have rabies do you?" I question.

Both of them give me a confused look "what?" Nancy scoffs.

"Rabies are my number one biggest fear and once the symptoms set in you're basically dead already" I spit the words before i have a chance to think about how they might sound. I'm just going to piss them off but I can't hold back the fear creeping in my mind. "How do you feel? Any symptoms, tell me if you feel aggressive or like punching me"

I list of a series of symptoms and Steve stops me while getting bandaged up "Robin" he grumbles.

"Yeah?"

"I kinda wanna punch you" he jokes.

"Sense of humour still intact that's a good sign" I mock.

As soon as he's ready to get back on his feet we discuss a game plan. "So should we head to the police station get some guns?" I suggest. We'll need protection here.

"We don't need to do all the way downtown for guns" Nancy smirks "I have some in my bedroom"

I don't know whether ro be shocked or not. There was certainly something about her that gave off the gun chick vibe plus I'd seen her use a big ass rifle last year but I guess I hadn't thought she'd keep a personal collection.

So. To the Wheeler house we go.

~

"Damn, it's about time you got a maid" I snark seeing dust particles float around us and vines snaking over the floorboards.

She huffs at me in response and grabs my shirt collar. With a surprising amount of strength she tugs up upstairs. Eddie raises his eyebrows and I flip him off before getting yanked out of sight.

"They should be here" Nancy mumbles to herself as she searches her closet. Pulling out two boxes she opens them with a frown.

Eddie has come up behind us and makes a snide comment "those are definitely not guns" he tuts. He was right. Two pairs of pristine heels, not guns.

"What I threw these out years ago?!" She urges.

"You sure this is were you keep them?" Eddie questions.

"I have a baby sister of course I know where I keep my guns" she snaps.

I gingerly lay a hand on her back to comfort her and she briefly leans into the touch. Sporting a cluster of papers she moves out of my reach "these- these are from three years ago" she mutters.

"I know you like school but right now is not the time" I try to joke.

"This stuff" she grunts reaching for a book "is all from three years ago"

Me and Eddie share a confused look "that mirror went to a garage sale, those shoes were thrown out and my diary" she pauses flipping through the pages "stops the day Will went missing"

"So this place is like frozen in time?" I ask starting to catch on.

Steve's deranged screaming downstairs breaks the moment. We all dash down to see him pacing back and forth calling out. "Dustin? Dustin!"

"Maybe he does have rabies" I mock.

"That little shit! He's here. In the walls or something" Steve insists looking at us sternly.

Before any of us has the chance to call him crazy we hear it- Dustin's familiar voice.

"The lights!" Nancy urges dashing over to a light-shade.

"What about them?" Eddie tilts his head in confusion.

"We can talk through them, like Vecna in the attic"

I'm second in line to join her and stick my hand up in a cloud of orange dust. "It...tickles" I chuckle.

The others copy me and the lights begein to shine brightly. "Anyone know morse code?" Nancy asks.

We all shake our heads but Eddie's eyes glimmer mischievously "does sos count?"

~

Having caught Dustin's attention he yells for us to wait in Nancy's room. Its awkwardly quiet and I play with the buttons on my shirt. Finally we here more yelling and something creates another plume of orange dust. "Try it!" Dustin hollars.

Nancy takes initiative and glides her fingers over it. The particles glimmer and we all gasp. "Okay we're unplugging it try again" Lucas adds.

The shimmer dims to an almost invisible amount until Nancy touches it again- her fingers trace the words 'hi' earning greetings from our friends.

The next thing she writes is 'trapped'

"You can't go back through the gate?" Dustin questions.

I roll my eyes. Wouldn't we have already done that if we could?

Nancy writes 'guarded' and luckily Dustin has a plan. He tells us his theory on how ecery murder site has a gate. "So Eddie's place then?" I ask curiously.

"Its gonna take ages to walk all that way" he mutters.

"Well, Nancy you've always had bikes right?" I raise my eyebrows and she nods slowly.

Hopping on some rusted upsidedown version of bikes we pedal aggressively to the trailer park. Inside Ed's place there is a glowing portal just as expected. "Right where Chrissy died" he croakd looking into the red mass of organic matter.
