After getting a buttload of food we go back to Eddie's hideout. When we come through the door he jumps like a scared poodle, he kinda looked like one too with the hair...

He digs into his freshly replenished snack stash while Dustin talks to him "so uh, good news or bad news first?"

"Bad first, always" he speaks through gross mouthfuls.

"The cops are pretty convinced you killed Chrissy, like 100% kinda convinced"

His eyes widen and he even stops violently ramming food into his face "and the good news?"

"You're name hasn't gone public yet" Max tells him.

"But if we found out about you its only a matter of time before others do too and once that gets out everyone and their shallow minded mother is gonna be gunning for you" I ramble.

"Hunt the freak right?" He croaks.

"So all we have to do is find Vecna, kill him and prove your innocent" Dustin claims.

"That's all? That's all?" Eddie repeats sarcastically.

"Yeah" he nods not catching on.

Ugh why do I actually feel bad for the guy... "Listen, I know everything he's saying sounds totally delusional but we've actually been through this kind of thing before, I mean they have a- a few times and I have once" again I ramble before my mind gets a chance to even catch up to my mouth "bottom line is - collectively we got this"

Wow way to go that was super motivational of me.

Steve adds on to my unpersuasive rant "we usually rely on this girl with super powers but those went bye-bye so we're in the uh..."

"Brainstorming phase" Max nods.

"There's nothing to worry about" Dustin squeaks sounding as if he didn't even believe himself.

Eddie has a look of utter disbelief probably wondering how us group of idiots even managed to survive this long.

A series of sirens sound from outside and I panic "tarp! the tarp" I point until Eddie understands my gesture and dives under cover. We all rush to the window and peer out. Luckily for us and not so luckily for whoever these sirens were for, the cars sped past us and down the road in another direction.

Shoving ourselves into Steve's car he follows the noise to the trailer park. A crowd of locals fill the street as cops try to keep them off the crime scene. One person stood out in particular Nancy Wheeler. There she stood with two cops just behind the police tape line. I hadn't seen Nancy since the flesh monster thing last year and even then we hadn't really talked. I felt Steve tense on the other side of the car and knew instantly this shit was gonna be awkward.

Grouping up on the picnic tables Nancy tells us about what went down. She was doing some journalism, inquiring about the Chrissy case and then boom Fred died. We told her about Vecna and our current theories to which she lets out a huff "it doesn't make sense- why Chrissy? Why Fred?"

"I mean they were both at the trailer park" Max shrugs.

"Should we maybe not be here?" Steve asks sounding worried for the sake of his children. Mother hen must do his duties.

"Fred was really upset when we got here" Nancy hums.

"Max said Chrissy was upset too" Dustin juts in.

"Yeah but not here" she scoffs "in the school bathroom"

My mind fires into action with all the criminal knowledge I'd accumulated from binging documentaries "serial killers stalk their prey so maybe they were upset from seeing Vecna"

"I'd definitely be upset if i saw some freaky wizard monster and I'd tell someone" Steve grumbles.

"Maybe they did, I saw Chrissy leave Miss Kelly's office, and if you saw a monster you wouldn't tell the police because they wouldn't believe you" Max breathes.

"But you might tell your shrink" I interject.

On the way back to the car Nancy tires to sneak away but of course Mr loverboy notices "Nance where are you going?" He calls.

"I don't wanna waste your time" she says sheepishly with her hands hidden in her pockets. "Its a real shot in the dark"

"Are you out of your mind? Flying solo with this Vecna creep on the loose? You need... Someone to stick with you" he turns and tosses me his keys "I'll go with her okay?"

Ummm... "I don't think you want me driving your car"

"Why?" His tone has an annoyed edge.

"I don't have a license"
"Why?"
"I'm poor" I huff.

"I can drive" Max offers making Steve freak out more.

"Okay this is stupid. Us ladies can stick together" I insist sick of watching him fumble for excuses. The corners of my mind darken with anxiety as I recall my old crush on Nancy but I shrug it off, that was ages ago! Im so over it. Totally not freaking out the more I think about it.

Nancy shrugs and leads us over to her car. By now im full on sweating. Theres no way she could know I liked her -used to like her. Or that I like women at all so I'm fine, everything is fine.

Probably.
