Chapter 5: Attack on Marley

"Did you fucking forget what we were here for?!"
Annie said in a stern voice.
Not enough to alarm others around us.

It was 5 hours after the attack.
We are currently talking at the west well right now.
I couldn't feel worse.

"These people have done nothing wrong."
I retorted.
I looked at Reiner but he turned away.

"Are you forgetting what 'these people' did to our ancestors?"

"We have been with the corps as long as the rest. We've struggled, cried, and laughed with them. They are no devils."

"Devils or not don't forget your mission. Remember back at home your father is getting the proper treatment because of this mission."

I stares blankly at Annie.

"For if you betray or fail, your family will surely fall apart."
She said in a cold tone.

"That's enough both of you."
Reiner sternly said putting the arguement to an end.
I could tell he was hurt by Annie's words.
But why should he?
It was my family after all.

"You're Right. I won't fail our mission."
What other choice have I got.
For is the corps find out I was the one who ruined their lives, they surely wouldn't accept me.

Bertholdt POV
All the soldiers gathered around and sat in their designated seats for the speech William was about to give.

"Bertholdt! I can't seeee!!!"
Gabi complained behind me.

"Sorry about that would you like to switch seats? I know I'm pretty tall."
I turned back as I asked.

"No.. it's fine I guess.."
Gabi huffed.

"Suit yourself."
I said turning back around to listen to the speech.

Then it happened

It was like I was watching everything in slow motion.
Eren is in Marley and he's already begun his attack.

The attack titan swiftly crunched and mangled William's body.

My breath hitched and I puked.

The titan got up and started moving towards the crowd.

"GABI, UDO RUN!"
I turned around heart racing.
They are just kids.
I grabbed their hands and ran with the crowd.

"BERTHOLDT!!"
Gabi yelled out.

"WHERE'S FALCO?"

My heart dropped.

"GO. GO RUN. RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN FIND SOME SOLDIERS AND TAKE REFUGE WITH THEM."
I demanded.

"I'll find Falco."
