My friend Donna invited me to go with her to the baseball game it was front ranger's against North Denver. I was super excited so I got dressed up, curled my eyelashes and styled my hair, I even wore lipgloss.
When I was about to leave the house the phone rang, it was Donna. She called to cancel our plans but I decided I still want to go to the game. It beats being at home honestly. My parents have been arguing a lot lately, I need a getaway for a while.
When I arrived majority of the space on the bleachers were taken but I managed to find an empty spot so I climbed a few steps and sat down with my coke in my right hand, occasionally taking sips while watching the game. This boy i've seen at school was pitcher, he was pretty good if I'm being honest. Bruce Yamada got two strikes.
If Bruce strikes again the Front Rangers will win. The pitcher looks around a bit tense and his eyes land on a spot not very far from me. I turn to see where he was looking and saw Donna with my ex friends. My smile quickly faded as I turned to look back at the game, I knew she was acting different lately. I just can't believe she would choose them over me, especially since she knows what they did to me.
He shuffled a bit nervously before throwing the ball, I was expecting Bruce to get his 3rd strike but instead the ball soars through the air making the pitcher watch as the ball flew over the fence, number 7 tried running after it but it was no use. "Home run!" Everyone yelled. The front rangers were groaning as they threw their hats on the ground.
Bruce ran all the way home and celebrated with his teammates while jumping up and down patting each other on the back. Everyone in the bleachers was walking out so I stood up and slowly began walking away. I kept my gaze on the pitcher as I slowly made my way down the bleachers, I never really talked to him at school so I didn't know his name but I knew who he was.
He always gets bullied by this group of three boys. A lot of people pick on him, they call him gay because he never fights back.
I turn a deep shade of pink as I realize he saw me staring so I immediately turned away and speed walked as his team was walking out, trying to avoid him.
I sit not very far from him in science. He has a thing for Donna, my friend- well I guess she's now more of an ex friend. I often see him staring at her.
I put in my headphones and click play on my walkman that was clipped onto my shorts. I walk down a few streets before reaching mine. A black van passes by in my direction but I just brushed it off as I kept walking.
My neighbors are weirdos, they have had their curtains closed since the day they moved in. They never go outside unless it's late at night and it's super rare that they do that. I've never seen them step foot outside in daylight.
I don't believe in vampires or anything like that but something is definitely off about them. I reach my doorstep and turn the doorknob, it was unlocked. My mom's car was parked outside but my dad's was nowhere to be found.
I didn't think much of it as I walked inside and went upstairs to my room to put down my bag. I was walking to the bathroom when I see water leaking from under the door. Someone must've left it running.
I twist the door knob but the door is locked. It's one of those door knobs with a circle key hole. I take out a bobby pin from my hair while dropping to my knees to push it into the keyhole wiggling it around till it latched onto the right spot which made it difficult to turn.
I twist my right hand till I hear the sound of the lock turn, I pull out the bobby pin and stand up while placing my left hand on the door knob.
I twist the door knob and push the door open. Immediately all color washes off my face as I audibly gasp in horror.
