After school I caught up with Finney and Gwen when I was on my way home. She was sliding her hand on the gate. It was a bit annoying but I chose to ignore it. We both look to our right and see the boys from earlier watching us walk. "There he is" I hear the ginger say faintly which makes the other two turn to look at us.

I flip them off and continue walking. "What was that?" Gwen asks Finney. He sighs a bit "Nothing" he says in a bright tone, brushing off the fact these boys are out for him.

"I'm staying over at susie's tonight, it's Friday. So you know what that means." She smiles as she begins splitting away from us. "I'll look after dad." He responds.

"I'll be home in the morning, and you better not eat all the ice cream!" She yells as she walks further away. He just laughs lightly as we continue walking together.

I had my headphones on again and he can hear my music playing faintly. "What are you listening to?" He asks curiously. I smile as I take my headphones off and put them on him. He bobs his head a bit smiling while listening to my playlist.

"It's good. Who is that?" He questions. "Steve Lacy." I respond with a proud smile. "Hey I was wondering if you wanted to come over and we can like watch a movie later." He takes off the headphones and hands them to me.

"Yeah actually that sounds good, but can we stop by my house first? I have to leave a note for my dad on the fridge letting him know where I'm at." He just nods in response.

Once we get to my house I pull out my house key and unlock the door letting him follow me inside. I quickly pull out a pen from my bag and a small piece of paper.

I quickly scribble up a few words and put a magnet on the paper and stuck it to the fridge, "At a friend's house, be home in the morning. There's pizza in the freezer! If you need anything call my friend's number (303) 529- 2166"

"Is this your mom?" A voice appears nearby. I turn around and walk up to Finney to look at the picture he was admiring. "Yeah, it is." I pull it down so we can view it up close. "She's pretty." He says. "Yeah she was." I corrected him with a frown.

He frowns a bit as I put the picture back. "We should get going." I say in a different tone trying to lighten the mood.

I lock the door and we walk side by side down the street to his house not talking much.

———————— 5 hours later ————————

It's late at night, his dad is passed out on a recliner after having drank 3 bottles of beer. The fireplace was on so the house felt really warm and nice. He put on a horror movie, it's called the tingler it was made in 1950s if i'm not mistaken.

"I'm going to go get ice cream, do you want some?" He whispered so his dad wouldn't wake up. "Yeah if you don't mind." I smiled a bit to which he nodded.

We sat there on the floor watching the movie with our bowl of ice cream. The bathtub was full of blood and a hand reached out after the woman. His hand flew over his mouth. I squinted my eyes shut a bit worried there would be a jump scare. He looked to make sure his dad is sleeping still.

It wasn't long after that, we both passed out on the floor. I had a dream about my mother. She was trying to tell me something but some black balloons appeared and wrapped around her neck, strangling her. I tried to run after her but as I ran the space between us kept getting longer.

Then I heard a loud scream that startled me awake, it was from the kitchen.
