The phone woke us up and he hesitated but he got up and pulled the phone to his ear..."Hello? Is somebody there? I need help... Hello?" It was just static until a voice slithered the word "Finney."He freaked out hanging up the phone and immediately backing up from it and crouching on the floor, his breath was heavy. He hit a small corner of a wall.
Then the phone rang again, he didn't want to get it but it kept ringing so he quickly walked to it and hung up the call.
Then it rang again and didn't pause at all. I stood up and held the phone to my ear. "Don't hang up." The voice on the other end said. "I won't. Who is this?" I question.
"I don't remember my name." The voice says. "Why not?" I furrow my eyebrows. "It's the first thing you lose." He replied. "First thing you lose when?" I ask the voice. "You know when." He answers.
Finn is surprised when he hears me actually having a conversation and stands beside me. I pass the phone back to him.
"How do you know my name?" Finn asks. "We met once. Your arm is mint. You almost had me." The voice says nonchalantly. "Bruce?" Finney turns to his right. "Bruce Yamada?" He asks.
"That's Bruce?!" I yelled in a whisper.
"Y-yeah. Bruce. Uh- I'm Bruce. Your arm is mint. You almost had me." He repeats. "Did the phone ring for you?" Finney asks. "It rang but none of us heard it. Just you, and Alyssa. The Grabber hears the phone too, but he doesn't want to believe it" He states.
"Why are you calling me?" Finney asks.
"Your arm is mint. You almost had me. I'm glad it's you. Finney?" Bruce called out.
"Yeah?" Finn questions. "There's a dirt section of the floor in the hallway where the tile is loose." His voice was kind and comforting. "Okay." Finney looks at the hallway.
"Dig down underneath the foundation I tried but there wasn't enough time for me to dig up and out the other side." He says before falling silent.
"Will we have enough time?" Finney asks as the line disconnects. "Hello? Bruce? Bruce?" He slightly frowns before hanging up the phone.
We ran to the hallway section and found the loose tile Bruce mentioned, I picked at the floor tile and broke it off the floor.
Bruce was right, there was dirt under here. We dug up multiple piles of dirt. "What do we do with this." I ask Finn pointing at the large piles of dirt. "Uhh maybe we can flush it." He shrugs.
"You're sure it won't get clogged?" I furrow my eyebrows. "I mean I don't know." He laughs as he continues digging with his bare hands.
"You're really out here giving half assed plans." I roll my eyes as I shake my head. I pick up a pile of dirt and flush it down the toilet.
"Wow guess your plan was a success after all" I snicker. "Told ya, you need to give me more faith here Ally." He rolls his eyes as he goes to the toilet to flush some dirt.
"We did a good job." I smile in pride while standing next to him, admiring the hole. "You got that right, but uh maybe we should cover it." he says as he rests his elbow on my shoulder.
"There's matts by the toilet." I offer as we both glance at the rolled up matts. "Good idea" he says as he goes and pulls one out.
We both unroll it and cover the hallway path where the hole resided. "Hopefully I don't forget the hole is there and fall in" I laugh, he joins my laughter and looked outside the window.
"Let's go to bed" he says as he grabs my hand and leads me to the old mattress on the floor. We both laid down but it was so damn cold.
"Finn, I'm freezing" I say as I turn to face him. "Come here" he replies sleepily. I cuddled up next to him so we could conserve our body heat.
We fell asleep for a couple of hours just to get our energies up then we began our hard thinking in opposite corners of the room.
He sat against the wall on the opposite side of the room from where I was, we both were thinking of a plan on how to get out of here. The sudden sound of the door bursting open startled us, making us stand up to face it.
