"Will, let's go!" Rose yells down the hallway. "I gotta get to work!"
Ever since Eleven disappeared, Rose had tried to get a 'normal life' back for her and her family. This included trying to not use her powers for the entire year. Joyce signed up for something which meant that Will had to go to Hawkins Lab for check-ups, which Rose outright refuses to go to. Life was going pretty alright... for Hawkins at least.
"I'm coming!" he yells back. "I just need to find change."
The girl sighs and looks to Joyce, who is with her new boyfriend Bob.
"This kid." she says while shaking her head before turning back to the hallway. "I have change, let's go!"
Will runs down the hallway, says goodbye to his mom and Bob, then follows Rose out to her car. Rose got a car from Joyce threatening the lab since they had almost everyone sign an NDA about the incident in 1983 but they never got Rose to sign anything about her time in the lab. They bought her a car and compensated her for all her years of trauma whether it be from in the lab or in the Upside Down. She still didn't sign any of the forms though.
"Open the console." she says to Will as she starts the car. "There's a bag of about fifteen dollars' worth of quarters."
"Really?" he asks as he grabs it. "Are you sure I can have this?"
"Dude, they gave me, like, thirty thousand dollars in compensation." she laughs as she pushes in her cassette tape, Dream On by Aerosmith playing. "Yeah, I'm sure."
"Thanks Ro." he smiles.
"Of course kid." she says. "Both of us have been through hell, you deserve the same as I do."
"Yeah, but you were there for five years." he says, turning down the music. "I was only there for a week."
"Mhm, and it's worse than when I was there." she says, pulling up to the Arcade. "But. I want you to get your mind off the Upside Down, the Demogorgon, everything. Go have fun with your friends and if you need me for any reason, I'll be right behind the counter."
He smiles and gets out of the car, running over to his friends, as Rose turns off her car. She gets out, gives a small wave to the boys, then heads inside to the counter.
"You were almost late Brenner." Keith says as she gets behind the counter.
"Yeah yeah, but I'm here, aren't I?" she says.
"You're on counter." he says before heading out to the main floor.
The girl rolls her eyes and jumps up on the back counter, watching as kids enter the building. The party soon enters, heading straight to the game Dragon's Lair.
"Hey doll." someone says, walking up to the counter.
Rose looks down from watching the boys and sees a highschooler she semi recognizes.
"Hey, what can I get for ya?" she asks, going into her 'customer service' voice.
"Need to exchange this for some quarters." he says, handing her a five-dollar bill.
"Not a problem." she smiles, grabbing what the boy needed.
"Whatever, I'm still top on Centipede and Dig Dug." she hears Dustin say as she hands the quarters over.
"You sure about that Dusty?" the girl teases, the high school boy turning to look where the girl was looking.
"Sure about what?" Dustin says, running over to the machine. "No no no no no!"
