I groaned as Natalie came into my bedroom telling me my schedule waking me up. She was early. Again.

I looked around my room in a sleepy daze seeing Plagg hiding in the corner eating the emergency stash of Camembert but knowing I shouldn't react. I snapped to attention once Natalie said "And the ceremony will start at Two p.m. sharp"

That's today? Oh man Marinettes gonna be so pissed at me when she sees I lost the outfit she made for me.

I jumped out of bed looking under my bed in the closet under my bed again, when I was just about ready to start throwing books off shelves Natalie threw a white button down shirt on my bed along with a black blazer with green cuff links and a matching green tie.

"I had it ironed for you before you got up so it wouldn't be a wrinkled mess for when you were gifted your powers. No one likes a sloppy model. Speaking of get dressed and brush your teeth your father is expecting you at breakfast." She said.

My eyes widened. Father never talked to me out of shoots or in person unless it was important. Did he want to wish me a happy gifting? No that couldn't be it.  Did he spring another surprise shoot on me? No it was the law all schedules had to be cleared the day of the gifting.

Could he... want to talk to me? No it's to good to be true. I've gotten my hopes up like that to many times to count I'm not about to do it again.

I went on like this all through my morning routine, brushing my hair, talking to Plagg, getting out of my pajamas and into my outfit for the gifting making sure I looked good in it, going down the hall sitting down at the table until I heard my father clear his throat.

"Adrien. Um this is a special occasion. One that will make you a man. And I wanted to say that I am... proud of you. You earned this and your power that you will be given." He said.

I was shocked. He had never said anything to be with no backhanded comment in there about someone. I started to let myself slowly fill up with hope and joy. Maybe he did want to talk to me?

" You didn't just receive them for no reason and you won't loiter them around causing destruction for a useless reason  like those simple minded superhero's Ladybug and Chat Noir" he continued with a sneer.

There it is.

The hope that built up inside of me instantly died and I scolded myself  for expecting anything but snide remark of someone who didnt do him any favors or wasn't as he says "the same level as us"

I thanked him half heartedly and quickly finished my breakfast which wasn't hard considering how little food I saw on my plate at this house, before taking in a breath. I was done with him acting above everybody else.

"Father I'm going to go to school now I would appreciate if you would pay some respect to the heroines of Paris." I said slamming the table as I got up to grab my stuff and head outside to see gorilla waiting to drive me to school and see everybody's pre-ceremony speeches and whatnot.

"Do not talk to me that way Adrien. After the ceremony come straight home understand?"

I sighed. "Yes father."

Once I went inside I was happy to see Marinette in a gorgeous dress that she said she was making. It was so under wraps that no one could see it. Not me Alya, Chat Noir, or her parents. And I tried to see it. A lot.

It was an off the shoulder modified a-line dress that was a gorgeous blush pink that complemented the slight blue pigment in her hair. There was a knee high slit for her leg on the right where you could see she had on wedge heels in the same blush pink as the dress. She was also wearing a golden bracelet on her left wrist.

I remembered I wanted to give her something for the occasion so a month before the ceremony I got her a beautiful ruby necklace with green accents to surprise her with (because she looks stunning in red and red goes with everything)

So I rushed to my locker and happily got the red velvet box out ready to give it to her. When I got back I saw Alya in a sunset orange dress that complemented her ombré hair. It was a knee-length sleeveless dress with a rim of rhinestones at the top.

She was talking to Marinette and saw me walking towards her and pushed her towards me.

"Hey, Mari! So this is the famous dress, you did an incredible job."

"Thank you, Adrien! I see you're wearing the blazer I made for you the green I picked out matches your eyes perfectly. Y'know it reminds me of Chat noir's ring. From w-what, I've seen in um in interviews anyway!" She added quickly.

I laughed as she tried to cover up the fact that Chat Noir visited her almost every day, though almost everybody in our class knew this.

"Well, I just wanted to give you something... a gift for the gifting if you must. I hope you'll wear it during their ceremony but only if you want to of course. No pressure" I said opening the small box containing the necklace.

It had a delicate teardrop ruby that looked like it had been broken and put together again with flakes of green in the cracks hanging from a gold chain. Marinette's jaw dropped when she saw it and let out a tiny gasp.

"Adrien this is gorgeous! You really didn't have to do anything this is outstanding! It goes with my dress perfectly I don't know what to say." She said her cheeks turning the same color as her outfit.

"Yes, I did you made me this outfit. I wouldn't have anything I liked to wear to the ceremony. My father would have made me wear what he wore to his and believe me when I say it is hideous, and he calls himself a fashion designer."

"Seriously you really shouldn't have-"

"Nope"

"I mean this must have cost a fortune-"

"Wrong answer"

"Why would you even get this for me-"

"Still waiting"

"...Thank you. Really it means a lot."

"Ding, ding, ding! The correct answer, thank you we will be right back for Double Jeopardy after this short break!" I said pointing at an imaginary camera making her giggle.

"Help me put it on?" She asked.

"Of course prin- Marinette," I said taking the golden chain and pushing her hair off to the side fiddling with the clasp. I was thinking about how I had never seen her hair down before when I finally got the necklace on her.

"Alright, class. It's time to give your speeches and take a class photo of the last time I will see you all as children." Ms. Bustier said with a tear in her eye.
