"uh, if everyone could gather, please." elijah clinging his glass. alice turns and looks up towards the stairs and sees an unfamiliar blonde walking up the stairs and leaving the room. she knew immediately, that was the mikaelson mother. she turns to elena who nods in confirmation.

"welcome, thank you for joining us. you know, whenever my mother brings our family together like this, it's tradition for us to commence the evening with a dance. tonight's pick is a centuries-old waltz, so if all of you could please find yourselves a partner, please join us in the ballroom."

alice freezes. of course. a ball would require a dance. she turns to elena and sees her walking off with damon then she spots stefan watching them gloomily. "may i have the honors?" stefan turns to see alice. he gives her a sharp look but links arms with her nonetheless. they make their way to the ballroom with everyone.

they go in rows with everyone. "jealousy isn't a good look on you, stef." alice smiles slyly. he looks over at her as they take step forwards, and step back until they part, standing in front of each other. he steps forward, arms going around her waist and locking his free hand with hers. her other arm goes around his back.

"the more you act like a jerk who doesn't give a damn, the more she'll stay away from you." alice sighs softly as his eyes drift to her neck.

"who did that?"

"did what?"

"that." stefan's eyes dart to her neck, as if glaring at it. his jaw is clenched and she smiles softly, knowing that he cares. "who?" he asks again and she shrugs her shoulders, unaware of the ears listening in on their conversation.

"i don't remember."

"you were compelled?"

"no. head trauma. believe it or not, that still exists for us humans." alice rolls her eyes sarcastically. stefan, who was getting sick of her saracasm, spins her and she lands in the arms of someone else.

his arms slither around her waist smoothly, pulling her into his chest, closer than necessary. alice, who didn't know stefan was supposed to spin her, places her hand on his chest, rather than his back as he holds her other hand. her eyes remain on his chest, feeling dizzy due to the loss of blood. her chest is hard like a rock, his body towers over her and his cologne effortlessly fills her nostrils.

mm.

"greetings."

(daniel sharman)

at the familiar voice, alice lifts her head, adjusting herself and placing her arms around her back as they begin dancing like everyone. "hi." she smiles at him nervously, staring into the bluest eyes she's ever seen, more than matt's or damon's. his tousled brown curls complimented his face shape and sharp jawline perfectly.

(the other one)

at the familiar voice, alice lifts her head, adjusting herself and placing her arms around her back as they begin dancing like everyone. she smiles at him nervously, staring into the most intimidating eyes, squinting at her. it made her instantly want to turn away. but she didn't. his light brown hair was lifted upwards, straight. but there was a single strand falling over his shoulder. and somehow, it made him look better.

"i'm sorry- i didn't know a spin was going to happen- stefan, aka the guy i was dancing with didn't even bother to give me a quick warning. and uh- i'm just going to let you know that i might faint any minute now...so...just wanted to let you know. and- again, i'm sorry for literally ramming into you." alice rambles and looks at his amused expression. "hi." she grins sheepishly. "i'm alice sommers."

kol studies her expression. "pleasure to meet you. kol mikaelson."

hearing his last name, she accidentally steps on his foot and turns away. "sorry.."

alice stares at him. this could potentially be the man who bit her. or it could be elijah. her eyebrows furrow. "how're you liking mystic falls?"

kol mikaelson chuckles. "you're asking a thousand year old vampire who has been daggered for a century how they like a small town, stuck with a family they can't stand?" he smirks and her eyes widen. "i know you know, darling."

"you hate your family? me too. not my family- your family. except for elijah, he's cool. but i hope klaus falls down a ditch." alice smiles and he squints his eyes, trying to understand why she hates his brother so much.

alice sommers.

jenna sommers.

the vampire used for klaus to be a full hybrid.

kol almost laughs. oh, the irony, two sommers being killed by two mikaelsons. yes, killed. kol didn't want to keep her alive. she would figure out soon that it was him, and he wasn't about to have an earful from his mother.

alice turns her head. kol had to admit, she was a sight for sore eyes. her narrowed eyes were bright and just by looking at her, he could tell she enjoyed talking, a lot. and he was right. her head reached a little down his shoulders, and her hair seemed effortlessly perfect. it was straight now, but he recalls the other night her hair being wavy and cut unevenly, yet somehow, it fit her.

"so...uh, just out of curiosity," alice starts. "what did you do after you were daggered?"

"i helped rebekah stab klaus. not that it's your concern."

alice raises a brow. "after that."

"my mother came in and started blabbing about redemption. to be quite honest, i stopped listening after she said she wanted us to be a close, happy family." kol stares down at her.

alice was about to ask him to continue what he did after that but everyone stopped dancing. kol bows down to her like every other man in the room and holds her hand, placing a soft, gentle kiss on there. "it was a pleasure dancing with you, sommers." he gives her a cheeky grin before turning and walking away as she felt herself blush.

she turns and feels her head spinning. coming to a dance after losing that much blood was not a good idea. she goes behind the stairs, gripping the wall and her eyes flutter before her legs give out. she falls to the ground and her eyes were droopy. then, a pair of suede shoes begin walking towards her.
