"is he dead?"

"are you okay? what happened? did he hurt you?" elena bombards alice with questions, ignoring her own. she looks at her cousins neck without the plaster and dried blood. "oh my god. alaric said he didn't bite you." elena grabs her jaw, tilting her head upwards to inspect her neck. alice winces.

alice's dry lips open before closing, unable to form words. her head was fuzzy. she licks her lips and swallows her saliva. "is he dead? is kol dead?"

elena, again, ignores the question. "where did you go? alaric daggered him hours ago! answer my questions, alice!"

"is he dead?!"

then, she pauses, looking at alice. "no- none of them are. damon killed bonnie's mom so esther can't keep the spell going." elena explains slowly. alice's eyebrows furrow, heart breaking for how bonnie would be handling this. years not seeing her mom, only for her to die. "she's-she's a vampire.."

"but why would damon do that? he wanted the mikaelsons gone more than anyone..?"

elena freezes. "for me. he saved them for me." she admits. "bonnie hates me and she has every right to." her eyes water with tears and alice stares at elena. "rebekah was holding me hostage, threatening to kill me if damon and stefan didn't stop the spell. the only way they could do that was cutting the spell, meaning—"

"killing a bennet." alice completes. "you didn't ask to be hostage." she tries to comfort the brunette but elena only shakes her head, wiping the tears threatening to spill. "it's not your fault, elena..."

alice embraces her and elena breaks down. alice knew for a fact, she would have to go over to bonnie's house and comfort her too, despite the hectic night she was having.

"it feels like every time i try to fix things," elena starts. "i just keep making everything worse. aunt jenna's, uncle john- bonnie's mom- it's my fault." she whispers and alice tightens her grip on the brunette. eventually, elena fell asleep. alice grabs a blanket, throwing it over the girl and turning the lights off. she gives elena a final look before turning and grabbing her car keys.

alice gets in the car and begins driving to bonnie's house. luckily, it wasn't too far away. she gets out of the car and heads towards the door, knocking lightly on the door. she rocks on her feet and then the door opens to see bonnie, under her eyes dark, her face completely dull and numb. her eyes were glassy yet no tears were down. she looked gray, like a ghost.

the sommers takes a step forward, looking at bonnie as if she was a scared deer, about to run away from any source of sound. then hesitantly, she hugs her. it doesn't take long for bonnie to break down too.

alice, always there for everyone.

"we're getting out of town tomorrow- me and caroline.." bonnie whispers. "to help my mom adjust. i need you there alice.." she says quietly.

"okay." alice gives her a soft smile. "how about we watch a movie? i'll make us a peanut butter milkshake and you set up the movie.."

bonnie pulls away, forcing a smile and nodding. she heads to the living room while alice makes her way to the kitchen. her phone dings and her eyebrows furrow, pulling her phone out to look at the notification.

towns square 3:30 am sharp.
-stefan

alice's eyebrows furrow and she checks the time. it's 1 am. she looks behind her before texting back.

whyd you change your number?

no reply. she bit her lip before shaking her head. sighing, she continues making the drink before pouring it in two large cups. she turns off the kitchen light after washing the blender. bonnie laid with a blanket over her, pressing the unpause button. alice hands her the drink before sitting down next to her.

"thank you."

alice smiles. "it wasn't much trouble, it got easy to make after working at the grill—"

"no, thank you for being here. for being you."

alice just gives her a hesitant smile before looking in front of her.

-

alice's eyes flutter open, bonnie's arms around her. she groans and checks the time. 3:02. she gets out of the couch and heads towards the bathroom, splashing her face with water and rinsing her neck. she gets out the bathroom and makes her way upstairs, borrowing a hoodie from bonnie's dad who wasn't even in town.

the hoodie was a red color. she makes her way downstairs again and grabs the two cups, heading to the kitchen and washing the cups. then, she cleans up the living room, careful to be quiet and not wake up bonnie.

once done, she breathes heavily and wipes her forehead. then, she looks at bonnie before turning off the television. "bye bon.." she grabs her phone and keys before heading out.

town square.

alice rubs her tired eyes, her cheeks, lips and nose red from the cold. she tucks a strand of hair behind her ears as she gets in her car, wondering what stefan wanted.

she makes it and parks her car, walking towards the tall building with a clock on top. she checks the time.

3:35.

"stefan?" alice asks. "i'm only five minutes late. what do you want?"

no reply. rolling her eyes, alice makes her way towards the car before feeling a gush of wind. she whirls around and there he stood.

kol mikaelson.

"shit." alice mutters.

"sorry, darling. should've been more cautious."

alice stares at him, taking steps back. "please leave me alone. i had nothing to do with what they did." her back meets the wall as kol takes steps forward, he stands in front of her and raises her hand, placing it softly on her cheek.

"of course you didn't, ali." kol gives her a small smirk. "i'm just here to say bye."

alice's eyebrows furrow. "what are you going to do to me?"

kol lets out a humorless laugh. "your not leaving, i am."

"why?"

"my mother is still out there. and let's just say, my family and i need leverage. i cant go into detail, though. it would spoil the fun." kol moves his hand to her chin, lifting it up.

"what do you want, kol?"

kol smirks. "generally, i want a lot of things. you should be more specific." he taunts and alice wanted nothing more than to smack that smirk off his face. but, she knew that would only anger the short tempered vampire. so, she turns her head so his hand could drop from her face.

"from me." alice sighs. "what do you want from me?"

"as simple as nothing."

"then why did you bring me here?" alice grits through her teeth and kol almost laughs at her irritation.

"to say goodbye."

alice fakes a smile. "well, bye! safe flight." she tries to walk past him but he grabs her arm.

"how much do you despise niklaus?" kol questions, his amusement completely gone. her eyebrows furrow. "answer my question, alice." he demands, grip on her arm getting tighter, she looks at his grip, her muscles tightening and she looks back at him.

"more than anything. he killed my mom."

kol smirks. "and how much do you care for your friends?"

"more than anything." alice repeats.

"then you'll listen to what i have to say."
