A long trail of blue spark brightens the night sky and explodes into smaller glimmers. The first firework of Full-Moon Festival has been launched, followed by multiple fireworks rocketing under the moonlit horizon. It has begun.
"Do not expose your identities, and wait for the signal before you act."
"Yes, sir!"
The Shuumatshuban squad left without a delay. As their commander explained, today shall be the day of freedom. Inazuma will break free from everything that was holding it down.
But it won't go without a bump, Ayato knows this. He has been followed by unknown person, and he noticed them. It would be rude of him to not greet his admirers.
"Grand festivals like this monopolize the Tenryou Commission's resources. Your timing is impeccable." Ayato scoffed before he turns to face the stalkers "Pity, you were all they sent."
As Ayato expected, a group of Fatui are approaching him. Their weapons are drawn and a Fatui Agent welcomes Ayato with his outstretched arm "Let's go for a stroll. We wish to discuss cooperation with the Yashiro Commission."
Ayato closed his eyes while he grabbed his sword's hilt. They have no idea about how much I despised their organization, did they?
"A humble suggestion. The Fatui would do well to update their intelligence concerning me. Ah, but of course," Ayato said his artificial regret with a small grin on his face, while Haran glows in his grip "That would require for one of you to return in one piece."
The Fatui was startled by how fast Ayato charged. His movement was too hard to predict, and by the time they realize who is his next victim, a cold blade swung across them, leaving their body disintegrate to nothing.
"You underestimate your foe!" the Fatui Agent grunts. Honestly, he is right. Their capability might kill other targets, but for Ayato, these are just a walk in the park.
"If assassinating me was that simple, I can name a few rival clans who would have an easier time over the years."
The Agent vanishes into thin air while leaving a trace of hydro that could be seen by Ayato. He waits until the Agent gets closer, then he activates his elemental power burst.
"Kamisato Art: Suiyuu!"
Rapid fall of rain dispelled the Agent's camouflage right when he runs to Ayato, which caused the Commissioner to easily parry him. The counterattack leaves the Agent defenseless and Ayato lands a final strike to end the transgressor. The Agent fell to the ground before leaving no trace of existence. It was like nothing has happened right there.
Seeing that the threat has been eliminated, Ayato recalled Haran as he heard another rushed footstep approaching. From the rhythm and sound, it is someone that he knew.
"My Lord! We failed to protect you."
Ah, so Hisashi saw the commotion from earlier. Ayato kept his smile to himself as he look far to the horizon "I do not keep the Shuumatshuban for trivial matters of dealing with assassins."
"Trivial?" Hisashi repeated with confused tone.
The Shuumathuban sounds like he is going to burst with question before Ayato cuts to his point "So, what's the situation?"
"The operation went smoothly. The Resistance platoon is hidden near Tenshukaku."
The clear air made it easy for the Imperial Palace to be seen from afar. The enormous size makes it easier to be spotted. Tenshukaku still looks in peaceful condition now, but gods know what kind of chaos is about to happen in a few minutes. If Yae Miko planned it right, the Traveller should appear at Tenshukaku's gates any minute now, and the Resistance will be his aid to get out from there.
