Life's not always a walk in the park. That's just how it was for Calaway Harper, a friendless abused boy. His father never cared for him as soon as his mother left, instead, he beat the boy mercilessly. He beat the poor boy if the day was too cold, cars too loud. Anything he could think of, he beat the boy for it. Calaway was friendless as school, his scars and burns more than some kids wanted to deal with. His back was covered in the purple and yellow marks, from his father electrifying him daily. His arms and chest covered in bruises and his neck, wrists, and legs coated in scars. No one had ever given a damn, that was until another boy a few years younger than Calaway moved in next door. That boy was River Smith. The two had little in common. Calaway was tall, strong but very skinny, with blonde hair and blue eyes. River had raven black hair with dark brown eyes and was shorter and more muscular than Calaway. Calaway was poor, no car, no phone. River didn't have a perfect life but had his fair share of good things. Everything seemed to work out River, less so for Calaway. But the boys were to soon find out, they needed each other more than they thought.
