Interest pricked at River as he snaked down the street, trying to find where whoever had come out the back door, and where they had gone. He made his way to a second street, taking a left. His dark brown eyes scanned his surroundings and landed on an alley way. It was fairly open, a gravel road lined with small patches of grass. The only barriers were people's wooden fences or the side of their house. He was just about to pass it when he saw an open gate and a crumpled figure on the ground. He hurried over to the figure, sucking in a sharp breath as he realized it was the blonde boy.
"Fück," he muttered quietly as he rolled him onto his stomach, his shirt blood stained and arm cut open. River always had medical background, his mother was a nurse and had shown him many things. One of these things included how to stitch people. The blonde boy was wavering between consciousness and going unconscious but River gently rubbed his lower back, the uninjured part.
"You'll be okay," he cooed quietly, raising his head to see someone coming into the alley. Even from their distance he couldn't smelled the alcohol wafting off his body. The man spotted to two and rapidly through a glass bottle at them. The bottle broke inches from them, some glass spraying up. Then he let out a wicked laugh.
"Let him die," he snarled before stumbling back towards the gate, slamming it behind him. River shrank back at his harsh words and slowly shook his head.
"I'm not gonna let you die," he whispered softly as he moved the boy. He slowly lifted him and set him against the fence, looking around. The blonde boy was now coming in consciousness, which worried River.
"What the hēll? Where am I?" he growled and finally spotted River. Instantly his bright blue eyes narrowed suspiciously.
"You.. I told you to stay away!" Calaway shouted quickly.
"You will die if I don't stitch you up," River spat back, standing to his sore legs.
"Don't move," he ordered as he began to walk away.
"I'm not going anyway princess," the blonde provoked, watching as River walked away. River sighed softly as he made it to his house, dashing up to his room. He grabbed his needle and some stitching thread before sneaking downstairs. His parents were deep in competition so the boy grabbed some vodka and painkillers before rushing away. Once he made it back outside, the neighborhood was eerily quiet. The only sound was his feet crunching on the gravel as he made it back to where he left the boy. But there was only a bloody pool.
"God damñit," he muttered as he scanned the ground. The crimson stains in the gravel. The boy's crumpled frame was only a few meters away so River jogged off. Quickly, he sat the boy up and found his largest wounds. It was easy for him to stitch them up, the hardest part was dodging the boy's flying fists as he poured the alcohol over his wounds. Once he was finished, he forced the pain killers into the boy's mouth and helped him up.
"Can you at least tell me your name now?" River asked as he helped the boy hobble along. The blonde boy glared at him but opened his mouth to respond.
"Calaway," he replied quickly, turning his pained expression forwards again.
"I'm River," River smiled at him and stopped once they reached his gate.
"So, I'll see you around?"

"I wouldn't count on it."
