Based off the song "In the Kitchen" by Renee Rapp
Jennie got out of her car, staring at the apartment complex in front of her. She strides across the lobby to the elevator, she clicks the button to the fourth floor. She sighs as the elevator opens. She exits the elevator as she walks through the hallway, stopping at a door. She grabbed the keys out of her pocket and unlocked the door.
When I walk in the kitchen
She pauses, taking a deep breath before walking in.
My heart hits the floor
She slowly makes her way towards the kitchen, scanning around the room.
Cause it's you that I'm missing, I still see a vision of us cooking dinner
She runs her fingers through the smooth marble countertop, the dust collecting at her fingertips. She wipes the dust off on her shirt as she turns around.
And you holding me from behind
Her eyes land on the knife stand as she purses her lips.
And you say, "Please be careful, the knife is so big, and we can't have another ER trip. We're too young, too dumb, too in love to afford it."
She walks out of the kitchen and smiles as she looks at the vibrant painting hung on the wall, painted by her and Lisa. She brings her hand up, gently brushing her fingers against the canvas.
And now it's just me and a hundred square feet of bittersweet memories
"It's beautiful, isn't it?" says Jennie, still keeping her eye on the painting.
Deleted the playlist, but I still hear all your favourite melodies
"I miss you."
Strangers to lovers to enemies
She walks toward the shelf and pulls out a photo album. She sat on the couch as she opened it.
So I'll dance with your ghost in thе living room
She eyes a photo of her, Lisa, Rosé, and Jisoo, standing in where presumably is the hallway of Stanford. Jennie had her arm slung over Lisa's shoulder and her signature smirk on her face. She could feel her heart sink as she flipped to another page.
And I'll play the piano alone
It was Lisa looking at Jennie with the same loving look she used to look at her with. A different Lisa, different from the angry, upset, hurt Lisa she last saw.
But I'm too scared to delete all our videos.
Her hand trembles as she closes the book and places it on the table. Jennie could feel herself shaking as she grabbed her phone from her pocket.
Cause it's real once everyone knows
She dials Lisa's number. She waits as she feels her eyes prick with water.
Could've at least shown me some decency
"Please pick up." The desperation in her voice was clear. "I swear to god-"
Done me a favour and packed up your clothes
It went straight to voicemail.
Falling in love, no, it ain't for the weak
She turns off her phone and chucks it across the room. She let out a dry laugh as she felt a tear rolling down her cheek.
So don't try this at home
She cries for the first time in two years.
