In the dead of night, crickets chirped their nightly rhymes, adorning the darkness bestowed upon them. (Y/n) glowered down at their happy songs, living deep within a discarded forest didn't have many perks, with how difficult it was to obtain simple life necessities like a clean flow of water, it was rather inefficient.

Though, the disturbance favorably loathed by (Y/n), was the nauseating sound the crickets made at night. They were louder than one would expect, even in their room that was surrounded by relatively thick walls, they could still hear the insect's chit-chat as clear as the ancient Nile River. Sometimes, it would even awaken them from their peaceful slumber.

This fateful moon outing, however, (Y/n) needn't worry about being awoken by the obnoxious sound of the nightly creatures, they doubted they'd even be able to get a second of sleep anyway. The villainess figure uncovered from their sheets, their phone tucked under their hand as they made their way out of their shared bedroom. Before exiting the room, they peered briefly over their shoulder, examining the resting boy and assuring themselves that he has yet to escape his dreaming realm.

They placed down the heavy construction LED light and crouched down to the floor, their hands feeling over the cold wooden tiles and searching for anything 'out of the ordinary. They expelled an exhale when they felt the familiar bump of a certain uneven tile. Grabbing the scrapper lying next to them, they shoved the sharp metal edge in between the frames, hitting the handle until the tile popped open, allowing them to remove it.

After they removed a few fabricated wooden frames, a dark passageway was uncovered. They grabbed the large torch along with a worn-out rolled map and hopped into the shaft, giving it a few hard knocks with the side of their fist to make sure the passage was stable, and when no dirt or rubble sizzled from the ceiling, they turned on the strong lamp and ventured off.

They eyed the red marks they sighted every few meters they passed, under the red lines were the amount of distance between the start of the passage to said symbol. They stopped in their tracks when a dead end faced them, a shovel and a bucket filled with necessary equipment sitting near the wall, with a marking of 1863m written beside it. They placed down the light, directing it towards the mass of dirt, then unraveled the map.

They smiled to themselves when they found that they were almost done with the lengthy burrow. They removed the cap of a red pen with their teeth and underlined '2km' that was written under a circle of where the tunnel was supposed to end. With continuous work, this tunnel could be done in three days. It was fortunate for them that they had a long while of 4 months before they'd ever need to use it. They tossed away the map and grabbed the shovel, readying themselves for another tiring and sleepless night.

In the morning, Touya was greeted with the appetizing smell of steamed sweet potatoes, along with fish and Miso soup. (Y/n) faced the stove, stirring the prepared soup. One of the many advantages of attending medical school was getting used to working day and night with no rest in between.

"Good morning, Frankenstein." They said upon hearing the boy's footsteps.

"Morning." He responded, rubbing away the sleepiness from his eyes.

"What dreams did you have last night?" They mused, grinning at him for a moment before facing the food once more.

"I had a weird one." He frowned a bit, taking a seat before the steaming rice and sweet potato, the fish and soup yet to be served.

"Go on."

"I was having a cake competition with talking sushi, they were small and had legs, arms, eyes, everything. So when I was showing off my cake to the sushi judges, I felt something go through me so I turned around and found a sushi stabbing me with a spear!" He retailed. (Y/n) let out an amused hum.

"Your cake must've been really good if the sushi was so jealous it wanted to kill you." They joked, pouring the hot soup into two balls.

"I know, right!?" He exclaimed, laughing. (Y/n) smiled, placing the remaining plates of food in front of Touya and sitting on the opposing side of the table, where their own servings sat.

"Eat up. We've got a long day ahead of us." They bobbed their head forward, gesturing to his food.

"Why?" He asked, before deflating and slouching in his seat. "You're gonna make me study extra today, aren't you?"

"Nope. Not even close."
