Alexander's POV
I've never seen horses so big and muscular. It looked like the ones from the story books mother read at night.
"Did you remember the story about the horse I told you last night, dear?" Mother kneeled beside me.
I nodded enthusiastically with a big smile on my face.
"Well, if you like it so much, why don't you ride it, Alexander. Maybe you'll be a great horse rider and our kingdom's name will be known for it." Father laughed his booming laugh.
A mentor helped me up on the horse and my parents smiled proudly looking at his son who looked truly like a mighty prince.
"Mother, look! Everything looks different when you're high up!" I reached my tiny hand out, trying to touch the distant hills.
"How can I ever worry how my kingdom will be after I'm gone when I have a son like him." Father said. I didn't understand what he meant, but I liked how he smiled and how my mother sniffled joyfully, so I laughed cheerily.
"That's your future king! Bow for the prince!" Father said.
"Our prince." The guards said at the same time, kneeling and loweing their heads to me.
Pride rose in my chest as I look up at the sky and hear my name being chanted in the air.
~Present time~
"Prince Alexander!" Aciel, my guard, yelled through the door.
I twisted in my bed and stretched my arms up, trying to get sleep out of my system.
"Prince Alexander, someone's here for you!" Aciel yelled again.
"Can you just give me a second?" I yelled, getting irritated.
"It's Prince Fredrick, he said there is something urgent!"
I groaned, covering my face with a pillow. "I'm awake. Send him in." I said as I sit on the edge of my bed, ruffling my bed head hair.
"Hello, Alexander!" Fredrick said, his tone curving in ways as if he's talking to an infant or an animal, as he walked inside.
"Morning, uncle Fredrick." I yawned.
"Oh, Alexander, what splendid news I have for you." He stepped closer to me while gesturing something grand.
I sighed and gestured him to continue.
"I have just learnt that Y/N, my new right hand loves to ride horses!" He said exaggerating every word.
"So?" I asked plainly.
"So I think you two should get close." He nugded my shoulder playfully.
I rolled my eyes. "Uncle Fredrick, I know what you're trying to do. You're trying to set me up." I heaved a sigh. "I don't need to be set up with someone. Besides, if I want to share my interests of horseback riding with somebody, I can call any horse riding expert in the land and they'll come. I am a prince after all."
"I know, Alexander." He sat next to me. "But, Y/N is my new right hand, she'll stick around the palace most of the time. Don't you think it will be nice to be fond of her? It won't be comfortable to be around someone you barely know, especially for long periods of time."
I thought about it. No, it won't be uncomfortable. I am a prince, I've had experience of dealing with people I barely know, people I hate even. But, it will better if I am comfortable around people I know. It'll lessen my stress. But, I won't give in to my uncle trying to set me up.
"No, uncle Fredrick. The answer's no, I'm not interested." I looked at him straight in the eye.
"But I haven't asked anything from you, dearest Alexander." He tried to sound oblivious.
"But I know what you're thinking." I said straightforwardly. "Good day, uncle Fredrick." I rose up and tilted my head down slightly in respect of the elder, then walked out of my room.

The day passed quickly since I practiced horseback riding the whole day. Another day begun and though my body's still sore from practicing so much, I still got dressed in my horseback riding outfit and made my way to the arena.
When I opened the door to get out of my bedroom, I could see from the corner of my eye, Aciel standing in the hallway, talking to some girl. I approached him, but he didn't notice.
"Ekhem," I coughed, "I'm going to the arena, shouldn't you be going with me?" I said, my voice stern and questioning.
Aciel stiffened and turned around letting me get a good look on the girl. "Y/N?" Why would uncle Fredrick's right hand be here?
"Oh, I'm very sorry, Your Majesty. I got distracted. Should we get going now, then?" Aciel lowered his head.
"Y/N, why are you here?" I didn't bother with Aciel's reason, Y/N doesn't have any business in this wing of the palace. Is this uncle Fredrick's way to get Y/N close to me? Something's not right.
"If this is uncle Fredrick's way for you to be around me, then I think it's best if you leave." I glared down at her.
"Oh, no, Your Majesty. I'm here to collect some papers for him, but got distracted with," she eyed Aciel, "this guard." She smiled softly and Aciel blushes.
"Well, don't bring your personal buisness to royal grounds." I sighed frustratedly. "Come on, Aciel, let's get going." I turned around and walked away.
"Of course, Your Majesty." He followed right behind me.
Uncle Fredrick is trying so hard to get Y/N close to me, way too hard. I have to get to the bottom of this.
